Squier guitars got their start in the 1800s when Jerome Bonaparte Squier and his son Victor Carroll Squier were ranked among the finest American violin makers. Noticing a demand for American-made violin strings, Squier began crafting their own hand-made strings, and soon expanded to other popular stringed instruments of the time.

The Squier and Fender names first partnered when the V.C. Squier Company was the guitar string supplier for the very first Fender electric guitars. In 1965 Fender bought the Squier company and quickly labeled the guitar strings as Fender. In the 1980s, in a move to counteract the growing industry of Fender copies coming from Japan, Fender revived the Squier name for their Japanese-made line of guitars, and Squier electric guitars and basses were born. Today Squier offers quality versions of Stratocasters, Telecasters, Precision and Jazz Basses, Jaguars and many more at a price that makes owning your first Fender very attainable.

Squier electric and acoustic guitars and basses are a launching pad for budding musicians that are on their way to owning a Fender. Squier offers multiple takes on some of Fender's most popular electric guitar and bass models. With series like the Classic Vibe based on vintage Fender designs, Deluxe Hot Rails with added output, Vintage Modified that adds modern features to vintage-style construction, and the base-model Bullet and Affinity lines, there are many versions of your favorite Strats, Teles, Jazzmasters, and basses to choose from. Each series carries its own features like modern two-point tremolo systems, vintage-voiced single-coil pickups, maple and rosewood fretboards, and a whole lot more.

There are even models based on the Fender Custom Shop guitars designed for some of Fenders's biggest artists. The John 5 Telecaster is loaded with dual humbuckers for his style of country-metal tones. The Jim Root Tele ups the output with a pair of high-output humbuckers. And the J. Mascis Jazzmaster is made so well it's becoming a favorite among Jazzmaster aficionados. And the quality of these guitars makes them an incredible value. Many guitarists use them as their main gigging instruments because of their reliability. Whether you're looking for a guitar or bass to get you started, a specialty instrument like the Vintage Modified Baritone Jazzmaster, or just a solid backup guitar, the Squier line of instruments will get you there while sounding and looking great.
