A High-speed 6-string Stallion

A no-nonsense take on the classic Fender Mustang, the Squier Sonic Mustang HH is teeming with alt-rock attitude! This guitar’s slightly compact offset poplar body is loaded with a pair of Squier ceramic humbuckers that deliver both raw, biting rock fury and full-range cleans. Next, the neck’s laurel-on-maple construction and “C” shape deliver a feel that splits the difference between playing comfort and high-performance playability. Prefer an instrument with a slinky string feel? The Mustang’s classic 24-inch scale length offers a relaxed tension and reduced fret-to-fret travel distance — perfect for developing guitarists and players with a slightly smaller grip. Whether you’re after an attitude-equipped first instrument or looking for a bold new sound to add to your arsenal, the Squier Sonic Mustang HH is a short-scale powerhouse.

A classic alt-rock tonal recipe

The Sonic Mustang HH takes a turn from tradition with a hot pair of humbuckers! While this combo certainly wouldn’t be found on any old-school Mustang, the combination of a short-scale Fender-style instrument with two humbuckers arguably defined the raw, unrefined tones of the grunge and early indie rock eras. This guitar’s dual Squier ceramic humbuckers deliver a present, in-your-face attitude that cuts right through a band to stand front and center in any mix. Prefer a cleaner tone? Sweetwater guitarists find that the Sonic Mustang HH’s neck pickup delivers deep and rich cleans to complement its aggressive dirty tones, offering the perfect sonic combo for players looking to capture “loud-quiet-loud” alt-rock style.

Low-tension 24-inch scale length

While most Fender/Squier 6-string family models sport a 25.25-inch scale length, the Mustang family clocks in at a slightly shorter 24 inches. What does that mean for you? More relaxed playability up and down the fingerboard, with a shorter distance between each fret and slinkier string tension. Make no mistake, it’s still by all means a full-size instrument — as evidenced by the legions of alt-rock and indie players devoted to the Mustang family, including the late legendary Kurt Cobain — but it does offer a significant fingerboard advantage to a player with smaller hands or a musician looking for a snappier sound and feel.

Maple neck with a comfortable “C” carve

The Squier Sonic Mustang HH’s laurel-on-maple neck will surely please players of all styles and backgrounds, sporting a crowd-pleasing “C” profile. It’s more than substantial enough to accommodate players with slightly larger hands while sporting a lightning-fast feel for fleet-fingered runs. Up top on the fingerboard, this neck is loaded with 21 Narrow Tall in a modern 9.5-inch radius to provide slick, fast playability with no fret-outs.

Squier Sonic Mustang HH Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Lightweight poplar body in a highly comfortable offset body shape
  • Packed with iconic Mustang-style alt- and indie-rock flavor
  • Maple neck in a highly playable “C”-shape neck
  • Laurel fingerboard with a modernized 9.5-inch radius for effortless bends up and down the fingerboard
  • Dual Squier ceramic humbucker pickups kick out raw, in-your-face driven tones with a beautifully full-range clean response
  • Rock-solid 6-saddle top load bridge
  • 24-inch scale length for a slinkier feel with reduced string tension

Shockingly Great Quality!

Bought this for my "Nirvana-Obsessed" son on his 9th birthday. I am really blown away by the quality, sound and out-of-the-box set-up. Neck feels great. Pick-ups have usable, even-volumed, tones in every position. No unwanted noise. Stays in tune! (even higher on the neck) I don't write reviews unless I'm really impressed by something and want others to know. Traditionally, I've not enjoyed Squier offerings. But, there seems to be a recent upgrade in the quality control, materials and player-minded design. This guitar actually feels like a musical instrument. As a former, touring professional, I was really pleased to give this as my son's first guitar.

First electric guitar

I'm 67 just learning guitar. I ordered my new Fender Esquire Mustang from Sweetwater. It is beautiful! I'm also taking Fenders online beginner guitar course called Fender Play. I love my guitar is all I can really say at this point. It's shiny new! I can't play anything yet but beginner lessons. But if you are ambitious and want to learn to play why not try out the guitar I have? Good luck!

INCREDIBLE HH ELECTRIC GUITAR @ LOW COST !!!

I've been Playing for 58 Years and have had Hundreds of Guitars from Old School Junk to some of the finest High End very costly Vintage and New Guitars. I also over the Years as many Fellow Players have purchased Low Cost Guitars that are Very Good Platform Guitars specifically for Modding and Upgrading which is what I was fairly sure I would end up doing at least partially/minimally to this Guitar; Nope ! After having had it for a few weeks now this Guitar Ceramic Pickups and low Cost Tuners is MORE THAN FINE for Playing as is You could possibly even Gig with it thus I'm leaving it completely Stock since it really is just a Fun Cool Guitar that if anything drastic damaged it I would not hesitate to replace it !

Impressed

I have many guitars, all cost much more than this one. I always have high frets when I check with a fret rocker so I do a complete fret leveling job. I put my mustang on my bench and removed the strings. I made the neck straight and used my fret rocker up and down the neck. I couldn't believe it, I didn't have one high fret! Wow this thing is $ bucks. I oiled the fret board, polished the frets and put on new strings. The fret ends were fine. I then adjusted the truss rod and lowered the saddles. Intonation was perfect. Nut was cut perfectly. I have very low action and no buzzing. Looks great and sounds great. I'm still shocked it came with perfectly level frets. Best $ I ever spent. It showed up in 2 days. I bought it to mod it but nothing needs to be replaced. I may just leave it stock.

Sonic Mustang

I've been playing for 3 years and have Affinity series Telecaster and Affinity HSS Strat along with a CV 50's Strat and wanted something with a pair of humbuckers for something a bit different. I picked up one of these because of the price and was blown away by the tones. It's everything I was looking for. Im 5'5" with smaller hands so the shorter scale is a plus for me. A more experienced player will surely have a different opinion but as for me I'm beyond pleased and would recommend one for anyone looking for an inexpensive entry to electric guitar.
