Despite the fact that nowadays many DJs use their laptops or other mobile devices to store and play their music, DJ media players are still quite popular.

One of the most important things to consider when buying your DJ media player is how many decks you want. If you have plenty of experience and want to do some mixing, think about whether you want a dual rackmount player or a couple of tabletop ones. Of course, if you are a beginner, there are also plenty of single-deck players out there which make learning the ropes an easy process.

Do you like elegance coupled with old-school functionality? If so, tabletop players are a great choice for you! Apart from an interface and many controls, tabletop players are characterized by a platter, which allows for a lot of creative freedom. The downside to having a tabletop player is that most of them take only one CD at a time, although you can find some dual tabletops here at Sweetwater.

Most people set up tabletop players on the sides of the mixer, and many of these players let you stimulate scratching or cueing a record. There are also a number of other platter effects available, so if you want to be able to do things like reversing, braking or other simulations, you can find a tabletop player that offers it.

Apart from tabletop players, we also carry a selection of amazing rackmount DJ media players. If you want to get functionality and convenience, this is the way to go. Some rackmount players may take a single CD, but most often they are dual players, so they will take two CDs at once. In that case, they'll also have two control panels – one for each CD. The most prominent upside to buying a rackmount player is that they are easily portable, which makes them a nice choice for mobile DJs. The basic options which most rackmount players provide are speeding up or slowing down music, scratching and juggling effects, and fast-forwarding or rewinding.

Other important things to note when buying DJ media players are the audio formats they support, media types they take, and the connections used. Do you need to play CDs or DVDs, or just hook up a USB? What about inputs and outputs? You want your player will work smoothly with the rest of your DJ gear, so make sure the connections match up.
