A steal @ $

By Sweetwater Customer on April 2, 2024

grabbed a "white" one 8lbs on the nose ..( after an hour you won't even notice the pinkish hue ) and straight out of the box it was a home run
Sounds great, plays great.. I really dig the neck pup ...thru my Blackstar amp I can duplicate the Warren Haynes sound on Soul Shine... (the Les Pauls has been sent to the closet )
after all the hype and reviews about replacing the bridge/saddles . I went for a Gotoh with the compensated brass saddles
That got played for 2 hours and quickly removed, and the original went back on .. ( lighter gauge base plate and the brass made it a little louder but to brite.) I did replace the tuners they were pretty useless...with Fender Vintage
now I have a perfect Tele.. and keep it right next to my 69 Strat .. The 72 LP and the Epi Lazarus will be collecting dust for a while

Fantastic value, better than player series Fender

By Jeremiah from San Diego, CA on December 18, 2023

I've always wanted to add a Tele to my collection and finally pulled the trigger on this one after a bit of research. Despite the stigma of it being a "Squier", this guitar is amazingly well made and sounds great. In fact, I've been going back-and-forth with my Player Strat and honestly think the neck on the Tele plays better. Hard to pinpoint the exact reason, but it just feels more consistent throughout with nicely finished frets. It is a bit heavy (expected for a pine body) but not so much that it's an issue. Just use a good strap! I was a bit worried about the vintage tuners but they seem pretty stable so far, and thankfully the neck isn't a true vintage style v-shaped neck with a 7.25" radius. Wisely, they went with a 9.5" modern C shape. I'm not in love with the single-ply pickguard, even though that's more authentic - so that's something I might change. The only mod I've done (and probably will do) is to change the saddles to brass compensated ones, which is something any Tele player with a three-barrel bridge should do. It just makes such a big improvement in the sound and intonation, and a cheap mod that takes 15 min to do. Overall, a wonderful instrument that punches far above it's weight. Don't be a snob and avoid it just because the headstock name starts with an S and not an F.

It's got the telly twang

By James Mullins from MCDERMOTT, OH on October 3, 2023 Music Background: long time player blues and jazz background. l love playing 80's metal

Out of the box this is a great little guitar. Stays in tune fit finish great fret ends good rounded nothing sharp .Plays great I like to tinker but I liked this one just the way it is so no modding and it's a keeper.

Honestly...Shocked!

I'm throwing in the kitchen sink here, all the stars. I typically never submit reviews or do polls or any of that. However this guitar really truly surprised me. I wasn't even sure I wanted a Tele. I had one years ago and never played it much and I didn't care for the tone. Turns out that back then I just didn't really know how to dial in my amps very well (different story ha!) SO I figured for the money it won't be that much of a risk. This beauty arrived and I was amazed. Played beautifully right out of the box, looks amazing sounds fantastic, just checks all the boxes! I am shocked at how nice this guitar is finished and built. I seriously could not find one flaw. Unicorn for sure in my book. This thing certainly punches way above its weight class.
Shout out to Alan Gribble and Sweetwater as always, they are the best out there!

Perfect!

By Clell Deaton from New Pekin, IN on March 30, 2023 Music Background: 35 years experienced, but always learning.

I am really impressed with the quality of this guitar! The fretwork is perfect! The neck is of fender quality. The strings are perfectly aligned over the pick-ups and neck. The finish, and build of this guitar is super accurate! Not a flaw anywhere, and all measurements are spot on. After a normal set up, (as with any new guitar) this thing plays awesome! The better fender tuning keys, and brass saddle barrels are recommended, and if preferred, the fender tele pick-ups of your choice. These pick-ups are fine and are very clean, they do simulate the fender tone, but to the trained ear and side by side comparison a slight difference can be determined. However , that slight difference can be made up in a small amount of added effects. It's really not worth replacing the pick-ups over as it is a very slight tone difference. Other than that, you wouldn't be able to tell blindfolded if your playing an actual fender tele. For the price, I'm very happy with the the way I received mine out of the case. Sweetwater shipped it in the case as requested. Even if I decide to replace the tuners, and pickups, this is still way under the price of a fender tele with the same or better build quality. With this finish not available in a fender, I prefer the squier tele over the fender. The pine body is definitely a different look and feel, unavailable on the fender version. The pictures do not do the finish justice. The woodgrain doesn't show up as well in the pics as it does in person. This thing is very beautiful! Wow! Thank you Sweetwater for another flawless product!

Amazing Quality at a great price!

By Joe Cascia from Colorado on March 19, 2023

I'll keep it short. I've been playing off and on for 30 years. The only electric guitar I've owned is a Schecter Omen-6 and I love it. But I'm older and softer now and it is more of a metal guitar. When I opened the box for the classic vibes I was immediately impressed. It's gorgeous! When I plugged it in I thought it sounded great except for a weird crackling sound. The clean ringing sound of this guitar is amazing and the feel of the neck is perfect for me. I have shorter fingers. But that crackling sound had me packing it back up to return. After doing so I did a quick Google search I saw a few people recommend rubbing a dryer sheet on the pickguard to clear out a static charge. I thought it was goofy but figured I would try it. I unpacked it, rubbed it down and problem solved! Now I am in love with this guitar! The Omen will be polished up and sold.

exceptional tone

By Sweetwater Customer on December 8, 2022 Music Background: musician, 30 yrs

I needed a Fender/Squire (single coil) guitar immediately. I had been using a Jazzmaster for a while at the time. I went to my local shop, and I noticed the 50s Tele. I played it for 30 min straight and thought it was simply perfect …I really wanted the platinum blonde color so I ordered one. Same perfection as the other guitar. I eventually even sold my Les Paul Studio as I was playing bar gigs weekly and only needed the Tele. Eventually replaced neck PUP w P-90.
Fantastic guitar.

Great Standard Telecaster

By Jesse Trent from NW Indiana on November 30, 2022 Music Background: Bands in the 80s/90s; basement studio musician these days.

I had borrowed a friend's Telecaster that he had modded. Pretty sure it had Duncan Quarter Pounder pickups installed and he had put a 4-way switch in it. For my birthday I decided to dive back into the guitar market and bought a floor model they had in white blonde. The butterscotch is nice, but I liked the Robin Zander "Cheap Trick at Budokan" look better than the Springsteen look. A bit less common. Upon opening, I did a side-by-side with my friend's and found that the pickups in the Squier had more tone range. The neck is dark, but allows for those nice, deep Tele rhythm and lead tones, and the bridge is as bright as you'd want from a Telecaster. The middle position is the sweet spot for me, though. Under the hood, the body is routed so you can put a humbucker in the neck. Electonics are fine, but these are stocked with the mini alpha pots (250K).

The neck feels great and plays great. I am okay with gloss necks, as my first guitar was a MIJ Squier also with a similarly finished neck. Tuners work well, and I feel no need to change the classic style.

I knew upon buying this, that I wanted a 4-way switch so I also decided to upgrade the pots to CTS. There are probably some style of these full size pots that would fit the Squier knobs, but I ended up buying Fender parts to replace the knobs and jack plate. I also rewired everything (keeping the pickups, as I love the sound), got a new jack. I did have to drill out the hole in the jack cup to accomodate the new jack, but it didn't hurt my feelings. Bought an Oak-Grigsby 4-way switch and looked up a diagram.

Finally, the body color is beautiful, and almost gives off pink hues. I decided to get a pearloid pink pickguard and a matching strap from Brivatta, and added Schaler chrome strap locks because I'm originally a metal dude from the 80s. It should be said that I picked the heaviest body, which came in almost 10 lbs. These pine bodies make the guitar a Hoss, but it's not a big deal for me, since I am also a bass player.

If I found it necessary, I would buy another in butterscotch and mod it into a Keith Richards style guitar, tuned to G, and add a humbucker in the neck. These guitars are great as is, but could be modded and still less expensive than a MIM Telecaster. Fantastic value!

Telecaster Vibes

By Sweetwater Customer on October 14, 2022

This is my second guitar purchase from Sweetwater and all I can say is that the overall experience and delivery was excellent, my Tele came perfectly pack and ready to play, I definitely recommend getting anything to anyone from your company, as for my guitar it has inspired me to get more practice and I just love the simplicity of the telecaster from whatever style you choose to play having one with you will accomplish the task. Thank you

Great guitar!

By Sweetwater Customer on September 14, 2022

This guitar arrived yesterday, and I am so happy with it. It's easy to play and it sounds great. It's also well made. I looked it over with a critical eye, and there's nothing wrong with the build or the finish. Not a thing. Even the frets are finished well.

Other than that, there's not a lot of detail to give. It's a Telecaster. If you've never tried one, you ought to.

I have a Les Paul, Strat, and a Gretsch hollow body, and in the space of just a few hours, this Telecaster has already earned its place along side the others.

To anyone sitting on the fence about getting one of these Tele's, I highly recommend it.

(Shout out to Ryan Haines of Sweetwater. Thanks for your awesome help, Ryan!)

Unexpected

By Walt Creed from Az on June 22, 2022

This is my first Telecaster, I bought this as kind of an experimental thing. I didn't expect to like this guitar as much as I do. It's a Tele so it's simple, that's a huge part of its charm. It's easy to play, and it's looks are much better than can be captured with a camera. For the price I think this guitar is an outstanding value. The only down side (and it's a small one) this thing is a bit heavy, but the positives far outweigh that one negative. Thanks again Cody Kraus and Sweetwater I am very happy with this purchase!

Squire Classic Vibe Tele - Wh Blon

What a beautiful guitar! Looks so sharp, but feels even better. Ready to go out of the packaging too, wrapped nice and safe. Great sound, been playing such more because of it. At my door in a few days, and the best customer service before and after. Bonus bucs equal new gig bag for it too (and change on card!). Love it!

Amazing Telecaster

By Danny Patino from Salt lake City on March 19, 2022

So, like many folks who go into buying a squire telecaster, the idea was have a really good foundational guitar to mod.
To be honest a $ guitar is a little steep for a guitar with the intention of basically changing the guts and modding the accessories.

But! Like so many folks who have bought the the squire classic vibe, right out of the box I was impressed.
Like, I could not believe it, impressed.

In what weird whacky universe are we living in where squire is making the best base model telecasters ever.

Truly, no lie, from top to bottom, this guitars slaps, it hits different, it's a bop, it's a vibe.

It amazing. Hardware - perfect, color - perfect, pickups - perfect. Neck - perfect, fretboard - perfect (friggin' rolled frets).

I say all this with 3 caveats:

1. Do your research on the specs. One ex is that some players do not like is the neck shape. It's a little thin for some. I consider it to be a very fast mobile neck, but some people like big ol' boatnecks.

2. Regardless where you buy it from, whether it be from Sweetwater, reverb, new or used, ASK FOR THE WEIGHT.

Luckily, Sweetwater has this increíble feature on their website where they have the weight of the available spread of models.
Very cool.
But yes, some people have received classic vibes that are quite heavy. Mine is about 7.5 lbs which is perfectly normal tele weight in my estimation. But anything past 8.25- 8.5 lbs and it may be uncomfortable for some.

3. The classic vibe is a bit on the glossy side. Nothing too crazy but she shines.

So all the said, the only "mod" (if you could call it that) that I have done to my squire classic vibe is change the knobs to fender amp knobs. It's literally just because I think it looks cool. Other than that my mod game screeched to a halt with this one. It really is a pretty dope guitar right out of the box, everything that I wanted to change was already perfect.

Honestly it's to the point where I'm afraid to change anything because I don't want to mess up how great it plays and sounds.

Anyways, yada yada yada. The hype is real. Stop procrastinating, get the classic vibe, save some cash, get a fuzz or something and shred away.

Exceeded Expectations!

By Aleks from Midwest, USA on February 18, 2022 Music Background: Hobbyist (Metal, Folk, Rock, Ambient)

Even though the main box had a couple of smaller holes from shipping, the guitar arrived in a perfect condition, very well packaged, in tune and setup well out of the box. I could start playing as soon as she was out.
The guitar itself exceeded my expectations. The switch and knobs felt solid. It was a display version but, honestly, I couldn't see any imperfections mentioned in the description with my naked eyes. Glad I gave Squire the chance. No QC concerns.
Love how sweet the pine body sounds. Very resonant guitar that captures the 50s Tele spirit as it meant to do.
Overall, very happy with the guitar and service, appreciate answers from the Sales Engineer to all my questions.
The guitar and Sweetwater really exceeded my expectations in all sorts of ways! I certainly feel very good about buying an instrument again from them in the future.

Working man’s tele

By William Lee from FLOWOOD, MS on November 14, 2021

This piece floored me for being a little under $. Shipped in the winter months, around a constant 30-40 degree chill where I live yet this guitar shipped perfectly tuned to my front door. These CV vintage tuners are the real deal for it to stay in tune after the chilly transit. Sweetwater, as always, goes above and beyond to make sure gear stays safe during the shipping process. Keep in mind the finish can look somewhat pink in certain lights, but if you're into that (like I am) it's a beautiful and enjoyable tele. Punches way above its price point for sure. Highly recommend this guitar, and Sweetwater as a company.

The best entry level Telecaster

By Sweetwater Customer on September 20, 2021

I owned a Fender Player Tele and whether I got a bad one or not it did not have the same bright articulate Tele twang that this Indonesian made Classic Vibe has. Its curious most You Tube videos demo CV's with clean tones while Player demos are mostly with a lot of dirt thrown at it because of the hotter pickups. Anyways I couldn't be happier with the tones. Even the neck pickup is warm and pleasing to my ears. The neck is fantastic. Its nicely rounded and the fret edges are as smooth as any Pro or Ultra Models I've owned or held. Its better than my MIM Strat and arguably even better than my American Pro Tele Deluxe. Pretty shocking for a sub $ guitar. Neck doesn't feel too skinny to me. The frets and hardware are probably not as durable as a US made Fender but they all seem to work fine and can be upgraded as needed. I got lucky and got one under 8 lbs. Can a Squier CV be a lifetime guitar? Certainly. If it sounds good then it is good.

Amazing

By Philippe Delleville from Orlando, FL on May 1, 2021

A year ago, I sold my Fender American Telecaster because I was not playing it that often.
It had a great neck and all the modern appointments.
Then I came across a few reviews about Squier Classic Vibes and decided to order this Tele from Sweetwater (if I buy a new guitar it is from Sweetwater).
THIS GUITAR IS JUST INCREDIBLE AND I PLAY IT ALL THE TIME..
I had planned to upgrade the PUs, tuners and saddles. Not needed - everything is top notch.
If the Fender logo is not a must for you, this is perfect.
Highly recommended.

The classic sound

By Gioi Geniale on January 3, 2021 Music Background: Amateur since early 80ies.

I got this CV telecaster 6 years ago. Since then, it was mainly my first guitar, above all for gigs.

Excellent handling, smooth neck, it really fits perfect for me.
Very sturdy. Once it fell from the wall hook to the floor. I had one string tune a little up. That's it.

The neck PU I replaced by a SD vintage and the neck PU by a fender Yosemite.
as I didn't like the white color, I sprayed it SURF GREEN with a white pickguard. A real beauty. In my eyes.

Fantastic Guitar

By Kevin from Virginia on October 19, 2020 Music Background: Hobby Guitarist

This guitar looks even better in person, Sweetwater pictures are excellent, but nothing compares to seeing the guitar in your hands. I prefer to play a guitar before purchasing, so I was a little hesitant to make a guitar purchase online. The Sweetwater 55 point check with pictures and the ability to select the guitar you are purchasing by serial number is an excellent way to do business online. The sales engineer answered all my concern before I made my purchase. Guitar arrived double boxed, again great care went into protecting my purchase while in transit. I always see comments like, "this guitar is great for the money", when reading reviews for affordable guitars. In my opinion, this guitar is a great guitar period! I had to make a slight adjustment to the truss rod and that is all. I cannot say that for other guitars I have purchased in the past. The tone, it sounds like a tele! I do always purchase more affordable guitar models and this one is definitely one of the best guitars I have ever purchased, might just be the best. Liking this guitar a little more every time I pick it up to play it and that is every day.

Squier Makes Great Guitars

By Jesse Trent from CHESTERTON, IN on October 18, 2020 Music Background: Played guitar for 42 years, sometimes even in a band.

Got this floor model from Sweetwater for -$40. Said it had some small scratches on the Pickguard. If so, they were difficult for me to see. I was also excited because the other models in this color were about a pound lighter. This one weighs in at 9.5 pounds. It's a hoss, and I like it! The color appears to be white with some woodgrain but it's got some coral hues as well. I couldn't be happier with the way this thing looks. I am also enjoying the sound of the pickups. I am not much of a neck pickup guy, but this sounds great through my amp. I do have to turn up my input on my audio interface when going into GarageBand with it, but it sounds nice. Tuners are stable, the ashtray bridge doesn't shred my hand, and the knurled knobs feel great and are the kind you take off with a tool.

Probably the only thing that isn't outstanding is the pickup selector switch. I'm not too concerned about that as I plan on getting a 4-way pickup switch and wiring it so that I can select both pickups in series. If I change anything else, it would likely be to get more twangy pickups, but through my amp, these sound great in both the clean and gain channels. Comments I have heard about this design is that the gloss on the neck is sticky, but so far, I don't see any difference in this neck and the Chinese Tele neck on my friend's instrument I have borrowed for six months,

I got my first Squier in 1984 and was happy with it. I am ecstatic with this purchase as well. I feel like it's a great deal for the money.

This is a five star guitar at this price point. Sounds and feels great. It will need a couple of upgrades for anyone who knows good from bad. Change the bridge, change the switch, change the tone cap, file the nut. Then you're missing nothing compared to the $1500 bigger name version. Def buy this axe.

Nothing Not To Like

By Brooks Reid from Florida on July 10, 2020 Music Background: Working Musician

I've been playing guitar for over 55 years. For most of my life I've been a working musician playing bars and clubs and shows. I've owned a lot of guitars. Now I spend more time recording than playing live and my collection of guitars is not large. I now own a 76 Stratocaster, 50th Anniversary American Strat, an 85 MIJ Strat, a Les Paul Tribute, a Les Paul Jr, Taylor 414, Fender Road Worn Jazz Bass, Ibanez AS73 Semi Hollow and my first guitar, a 65 Gibson J45 Cherry Sunburst. I'm not a collector, I'm a player so all my guitars are not in a cases or hanging on wall, they are in a rack by my recording gear and withing arms reach for me to pick up and play.
I don't keep a guitar if I don't connect with it. Something about the instrument has to be special for me to want to keep it in my rack.
I also won't spend more than $1500 on a guitar. There are so many great guitar from the US and overseas that play and sound great there is really no reason to spend crazy money. I fact I've played a lot of vintage and high end guitars that didn't sound or play as well as an average or cheap guitar. It's also about the sound you are looking for. Sometimes an funky old beat up POS guitar can have a unique sound on a track that is unique and sets it apart.
When I see someone writing a review for an inexpensive guitar and they say "It's good enough to gig with", I have to laugh. Look at Willy Nelsons guitar! I've gigged with crappy guitars and I've gigged with great guitars. If it stays in tune and the pickups work I'm good to gig!
Sorry for the long explanation but it's sometimes important to know a little perspective about whoever is writing a review. I'm not the best guitar player in the world but I've got some experience as a player.
Here are my thoughts on this Squire CV Tele in White...
Yes! You can gig with it! It's a solid guitar that is easy to play and sounds great. It sounds better than the Squire Affinity Telecaster IMHO. Build quality across the line is remarkably consistent. The only thing that is not consistent is weight. If weight is a factor then Sweetwater is the only company I know that shows you the weight and takes amazing photos of every guitar. I have bought several guitars from Sweetwater and it's the only online store I would ever buy a new guitar from. Great staff and no problems with returns if you don't like it.
Here are a few more notes on the CV Telecaster in White.
The white finish is semi transparent. It's' not solid so you do see the grain of the wood through the white finish. I like being able to see the wood grain. The finish on the neck is Poly not Nitro so yes it is glossy. Some people say if feels "sticky". I think it feels slick and I don't I'm all about it. I'll wear down eventually and that's fine too. In the mean time the wood is protected from my sweat and the elements.
The neck has an aged tint to it that I think looks fantastic. I'm not a fan of the look of brand new maple. I like the slightly aged look.
The guitar came set up and was in tune (yes I know that sounds crazy!) out of the box. Even expensive guitars I've purchased in the past did not come with the intonation set up. Luthiers' need to make a living too!
But this guitar was set up at the factory and tuned and somehow it stayed in tune. I'm not sure if this was something Sweetwater did or it came from China that way. BTW this is a Made In China guitar. Not Made in Indonesia. I can't speak for MII guitars but the Chinese version is well done. I was even impressed with the packaging. Yes its in cardboard box but a box that is built to support the neck and body and protect it in shipping. The guitar arrived double boxed (thank you Sweetwater) and was perfect.
The tuning keys are good quality and the guitar stays in tune. No problem. Fret ends are rolled on the edges and smooth. No annoying hard fret edges. Again I've purchased other more expensive guitars that were not as nicely finished as this guitar...! I seriously don't know how they produced such a high quality instrument at this price point! It doesn't come with a lot of extras but it did come with an inspection card from Sweetwater and one from China that showing the setup distance (mm) for the strings, the inspector code and the date of manufacture. Just goes to show they are taking pride in their workmanship.
I know there are a lot of people that get these guitars to mod because they are cheap. OK it's fun to add some brass saddles and a vintage pickguard but you don't need to do anything to this guitar. I had plans to turn it into a full on Fender Tele but after playing it I'm not going to do a thing. (well maybe try some brass saddles) I'm good with this little inexpensive Squire CV and loving it! It's the first guitar in the rack now and I'm really enjoying playing it.
I did remove the pick guard and the controls and the body is coated very nicely underneath with black shielding paint, very well done and neatly applied. Even the back of the pick guard is foil coated to reduce hum. The neck pickup rounted is large enough for a hum bucking pickup if you want to change it out. It's a travesty but you can do it.
I've heard complaints about the selector switch. It's is a PCB but seems solid and fine to me, time will tell. The knobs are not period correct and are flat on the top. Who gives a rat's ***. The pots are decent, not CTS but they have a nice dampening and feel like they should last a while. All this stuff is easy to replace or upgrade if you so desire. I'm good with it until it breaks or develops a problem. If you want to spend a bunch of money and change out parts you are welcome to and that it what's great about a Tele and Fender guitars. But you don't need to. It's great right out of the box so strap it on and turn it up and do what Leo designed it to do! It gets that edgy, thang, soul swamp funk, dangerous and about to blow a fuse sound that is Rock and Roll!
Have fun kids and you don't have to break the bank to do it.

I'm always is the music stores trying out everything-yep, one of those guys. I own more guitars that I can get to, some in the $1000s. I wasn't looking for a new guitar the day a store clerk friend of mine said that I had to check out this model (same exact model featured here). I was blown away! It had to come home w me.
Could not believe how great this Squire was and I have to gulp when I admit that it sounds and feels more like a classic tele than my American Fender Tele.

The Pine body and neck is superb. The action is super low w no fretting out. It has a rolling jangley tone for those looking for a perfect county tone, and with the equally perfect amount of bite and warmth (and character) for blues and rock.

I have a very discerning ear and I thought I'd never own a Squire. Well this guitar made a monkey outta me and my previous marketing-fueled snobbery. No more. You can hear the player behind this guitar which makes it an invaluable instrument. To be clear, I'm not saying that it's great "for the money

My first Tele

By Cary S on April 2, 2020 Music Background: Worship Leader, home studio

I've been wanting a Tele for along time. Keys and vocals are my primary instruments but I have been playing acoustic guitar for a few years and have played some on my daughter's old Squire Strat. Finally reached the point where I am able to record some of my own guitar parts and wanted something of more quality and inspiring to play. I considered the Fender Players Series but couldn't justify the price difference after hearing not much of a difference between the two. Maybe if I was primarily a guitarist I would have chosen differently. Nonetheless, this is a great guitar regardless of the Squire label. Sounds and feels so much better than what I was used to and looks great too. Another tool added to my home studio. Next up, P bass, and it may just be a Squire.

White Blonde Tele

By Robert Schlotter from Indiana on April 2, 2020 Music Background: Enthusiast with 50+ years playing

I bought this guitar a while back from Sweetwater. This is a GREAT little guitar! It plays very easily, stays in tune, quality craftsmanship. Pretty darn good guitar for the price. With some small upgrades this ax could be ready for the studio or stage. As it is I wouldn't be afraid to go on stage/studio with it. Squire has come along way when it comes to quality. Super entry guitar for students/ musicians on a budget. Would highly recommend this guitar. So glad I did!

This is classic vibe #4 for me

By Neil kraft from Ohio USA on February 8, 2020 Music Background: Garage rock star

I've been a classic vibe fan since they came out. I have a few different models. Just an observation tho, there have been a couple changes on the 50s telecaster that I don't like. They no longer use vintage style dome knobs ( the new ones are flat on top). The string retainer on the headstock was moved closer to the nut (not where they put them in the 50s). However I'm glad the neck specs stayed the same. It's hard to find them under 7lbs as well.
It's still my choice for guitar in my price range.

Classic Vibe Telecaster is no joke!

By M. Perkins from Ohio on December 11, 2019 Music Background: 40 years playing guitar

If you are thinking about buying this CV Tele, don’t wait, just do it!!! Plays fantastic and the tones are classic. No, it’s not as good as an American but is better than Mexican in my opinion and for a Third of the price. I would not hesitate to play it live or it sounds that good! I bought the White Blonde CV 50’s model and ..This baby is absolutely gorgeous and well built way beyond the price range. I salute Fender and Squire as you did this right. I also salute Sweetwater and Phil Potts as they always take good care of me in a quick and timely manner when I make a purchase. Since the Tele is so good, I will be purchasing a CV 50’s Strat in the near future.

Squier Classic Vibe White Blonde Telecaster

By Toby Kraft from Iowa on June 18, 2022 Music Background: Just a person that likes guitars

High quality, looks great, sounds great, feels great, I think it may be my favorite guitar. I would recommend a Squier and recommend buying from Sweetwater. I've bought several guitars from Sweetwater and wouldn't buy them anywhere else. Fast shipping, packed well, and great service.

secret weapon

By Sweetwater Customer on June 17, 2022

This is one of the absolute best guitars i've ever purchased or played. I tried one at my local shop and fell in love. I ordered one the next day and if was the only guitar i wanted to play for the next year. I started a band in 2019 and loved the range i got from the tele. blues, rock, country, jazz, acoustic simulation, metal…does it all. There's a reason John 5 plays Telecasters ,exclusively.
I have this one and a Mexican made Fender HH. I could have this guitar on a "Desert Island"…(with a Marshall)
and be happy.

Great Guitar

By Jonathan from IL on October 30, 2020 Music Background: Artist/Worship Leader

This is the first tele I've ever purchased and I love it! I've played an epiphone sheraton for the past year and didn't think I'd be able to find a second guitar to really feel at home on, but the one I brought home I grew to love in the first day. I will say, go in and play it before you buy it. I bought the first one sight unseen and immediately regretted it: it was too light! Like I said, this is my first tele, and I hadn't really gotten into the weight thing so when my engineer told me to pick one I just picked the lightest. At least for now? I HATE LIGHT GUITARS. The just feel like toys to me. I returned the first one and ended up with a heavier one that felt right at home for me within a day or so. So, great guitar, BUT YOU HAVE TO play the specific one you're going to buy (as it is with all guitars I think).

A very decent guitar option

By Marcus from CEDAR PARK, TX on November 30, 2022

I heard the talk of squiers being decent in the Classic Vibe Series. I have 4 custom shop guitars but thought I'd give the Squier a chance to win me over. Well, it did pretty well. Resonant, very playable, sounds good, and stays in tune like a tele.

The only nit I've found are sharp edges on the fretboard and the nut. Cleaning up the details is where this guitar falls short. I had to hand it off to my luthier and once set up and cleaned up it's playable and gigable. Hence me knocking off a star. But, I really like this guitar.

Good guitar

By Gerald from Las Vegas on June 17, 2022 Music Background: Hobby player

This is a good guitar, it plays nice, intonates perfectly and it sounds very good. I was able to get it set up perfectly with no issues (4/64 on trebble side slightly higher on bass side, .010 guage strings). The build quality is very good, there are no signs of poor craftsmanship anywhere. The fret ends are finished very well, no sharp edges and the frets don't stick out like on many MIM and USA Fenders, all Fender fret ends should be finished like this. The neck is great, feels like the modern C shape. I was a little concerned about the glossy finish on the neck because I really like the satin finish on my MIM tele, but it's not an issue at all it feels great. The tuning keys are a bit tight but they work just fine and I will say that the tuning stability on this guitar is excellent. The volume and tone pots work well, there is no sudden taper going on so it's easy to dial them back a bit and the selector switch feels solid and works just like it should. I'm really liking this guitar so far, it most certainly does not feel like the inexpensive instument it is. I travel a lot for work so I bought this guitar to keep in my locker at my away from home terminal so I would have a real full size guitar to practice on and it works beyond my expectations for that. Most of my playing on this is through a Vox headphone amp, those things aren't the best sounding amps but it serves my purpose. I was only able to play it a few days through my real amp (fender and prs) before taking it to its new home. The pickups sounded good I have no complaints, are they as good as the vintage noiseless? No, but they are good. Overall it's a good guitar, I'm going to leave it just as it is, in my opinion if you start modifying it you may as well just buy a player series which in my opinion is a better guitar. I bought the white one and I will tell you that it's pink…definitely pink. It's the way the pine shows through the translucent white. So if a pink guitar is not your thing get the butterscotch blonde one, I personally don't care about the color I just want it to play and sound good and it does that. Overall I'm happy with my purchase, it's a good guitar. As always Sweetwater is the bomb! I love Sweetwater!

Killer Tele!

By Ryan from Salt Lake City on February 27, 2022

What a bargain. I bought this as a demo and honestly it's easily 9/10. It has been perfect for some Stones covers and I'm excited to see what else I can get out of it. My only wish was that it had the thicker neck like my 60's strat. This neck is quite slim which if fine just not my thing. Out of the box it needed a little work. Frets were gritty and the nut wasn't cut well. An hour of work later and it's playing and staying in tune well. The tuners aren't great. I actually love the f-type tuners but these don't wind well and jump in pitch. They seem to be getting better with use. One last thing the white blonde has an almost pink hue to it. Personally I like it but just know what your getting into. Overall this is going to be hard to beat for the price and customer service was top notch.

Worthy

By Sweetwater Customer on January 23, 2021

A helluva lotta guitar for the money. It's actually a real Telly. I'm disappointed with the way the nut is cut, and the tuners aren't the best, but after i did a good setup this is way more guitar than I paid for.

It’s awesome but...

By Loren from Tampa Fl on June 15, 2020 Music Background: Production and touring musician

It looks and plays like a 50s telecaster, the clean tones I'm getting from the neck pick up are glassy and crisp, overdriving the neck pick up is also yielding some super aggressive and snarly bite without sacrificing clarity. (I hardly ever use the bridge pickup so I'm can't really provide testimony for it here)

However, like most any vintage style guitars from fender, the neck is super glossy and it needs to be sanded in order to keep your thumb from catching on slides. Also the pickups do put out a good bit of hum, which is expected... I would drop some bucks on the fender noiseless pickups if I were to use this live in a hi-gain scenario.

Overall it is so much more than worth it the price, but those few updates mentioned are exactly what is needed to really take this guitar into 5 star territory.

Can be a hit or a miss

By Sweetwater Customer on February 20, 2023

To begin let me say I had a choice to send it back as with all Sweetwater sales. I chose to keep it because I had gotten a very light one and the issues were things I could deal with myself.
I only had two problems. One was minor the other turned out to be a pretty big process to correct. For some reason, when no tension was on the tuners they turned freely, but a little string tension caused a few of them have some resistance. Once in tune they were fine but making minimal increments of tuning was more difficult than was acceptable. I changed them with a reputable replacement.
8th fret buzzed on the b, g, and d strings. I tried a lot of setup routines but all failed. Finally I made the choice to reduce the area that was the problem. This worked for the b and g but the d still had a little buzz. Finally I decided to replace that fret but found there was a slight bump in the fingerboard. I won't go any further except to say I fixed the problem and it's playing fine now. Like I said, it was my choice to keep it and not send it back.
Like all products you purchase you can get a defect but that's not a reflection on all the orhers. This guitar plays and sounds great and I've had so many guitars in 50+ years I can't remember them all. And for the money you can't go wrong. I'm happy with my choice. Thanks Sweetwater!

Update to original reveiw

By M. Perkins from Ohio on January 11, 2020

This is an update to my original review, I wound up sending the CV 50’s White Blonde guitar back to Sweetwater as it developed a crackling sound when switching to the neck P.U. Even though I sent it back it was one of the best playing and feeling guitars I ever played on. Phil Potts and Sweetwater Took good care of me as I returned it, they really are the best in the business.
