Recognizable Style and Sound — at a Friendly Price!

Reliable construction materials, iconic design elements, and an affordable price point make the Squier Sonic Stratocaster one of the most popular first instrument picks around Sweetwater. Fit with a ceramic single-coil pickup and humbucker combo, a traditional 6-saddle tremolo, and a smooth-playing satin-finished neck, players will be as close as it gets to genuine Strat playability while benefiting from an assemblage of beginner-friendly features. Apart from providing charming good looks, this guitar’s S-style body shape and conventional bolt-on maple neck provide a solid playing foundation and reliable construction that will endure countless hours of use. Additionally, the Squier Sonic Stratocaster’s onboard control set encourages players to scratch every surface of potential guitar tone, proving a valuable asset no matter which play style you prefer. When making your first guitar decision, there’s something to be said about going with a timeless classic — reach for the stars with a Squier Sonic Stratocaster!

Authentic, reliable solidbody construction

The Squier Sonic Stratocaster bears the look and feel of a recognizable axe classic. Given its S-style poplar body, you’ll have no problem extracting rich guitar tones while maintaining comfortable positioning. Additionally, its satin-finished maple neck with a “C”-shape profile creates a smooth playing surface that, when paired with the body’s cutaway shape, grants easy access to all 21 frets. Finalized with durable chrome hardware, die-cast tuning machines, and an eye-catching gloss finish, the Squier Sonic Stratocaster makes a worthy addition to any musician’s instrument arsenal.

Single-coil/humbucking combo with versatile controls

Although the Stratocaster is famously known for its distinct high-end chime, the two ceramic single-coil pickups and a single humbucker in this Squier Sonic can produce a bevy of crystal-clear guitar tones. You’ll also find a master volume, two tone knobs, and a 5-way pickup selector switch. With this control center at hand, wavy chord progressions, articulate lead lines, and a well of other possible sounds are within your grasp. Toss in the Stratocaster’s proprietary vintage-style tremolo, and you’ll be serving expressive warbles and surf-inspired pitch bends in no time.

Squier Sonic Series: suitable selections for emerging guitarists

Ask any Sweetwater musician: whether you’re searching for your first instrument or a more affordable guitar option, Squier’s Sonic Series should be at the top of the list. Options ranging from classic Stratocasters to beefy Precision basses provide beginner musicians with all the essentials required to start their audial journey — without sacrificing sound quality. Likewise, a new, expanded library of color options and body styles ensures every musician can access the perfect instrument. Topped off with the same durable build and tonal capabilities as every other Squier instrument, the Sonic Series provides years of reliable and authentic performance to any player.

Part 2

I wanted a low costing guitar because I'm a poor man. Squier guitars have always been a bit hit or miss. My Sonic, guitar came playable, right out of the box. The machine heads were fair for a budget guitar. I hate the pots because the tone roll does nearly, nothing when rolling it up or down.
Pickups are doable for most genre's. The neck is really small. Great for people who like the feel of a smaller neck.

Finish was good on the body. However, very rough feeling on the neck. I had to take a 3m scratch pad to it to remove all the high spots from the over spray. It initially, felt really bad in my hands. But after I used the 3m scratch pad it felt really nice. There's also some over spray on the frets. So I used 000 steal wool on the fretboard and lightly buffed the frets and now they're as smooth as glass.

The small frets aren't flat, and have zero room to file down. when the frets go, I'll be looking for a different neck. These are truly the worse frets that I've ever seen on a Squier. But if you like thick strings, you'll probably love them because there probably won't be any fret buzz with thicker gaged strings. Like 10's or 11's.

Any guitar that will cost less than $ will most likely need a setup. The intonation on these are decent right out of the box. but could use some tweaking. The action is low and no fret buzz coming through the amp with the 9's that came on it.

Final Thoughts. Is it worth $? That depends on who you ask. Is there better guitars in the $ range? Yes, there is. The Ibanez GIO sells for $ and had awesome medium frets, great pickups for rock & Metal. Great pots and low action. No fret buzz. Best guitars I've seen in the $ range. I believe these Squier sonics are worth $
I bet I could find a much better Squier guitar that has been used and abused. If I had it to do all over again I'd choose the GIO, or find a used Squier elsewhere. Like Marketplace or Craigslist. If I could afford payments I'd be looking through Sweetwater to find something else. Because I believe Sweetwater is the Best online retailer. Take that for what it's worth.

I'm sure I'll set this guitar up and play it, but not with love.. If you're a beginner or buying a guitar for your kids, don't buy this. Look for something else. If your heart is set on a Squire, spend more money on a better one or buy a used one somewhere. Try finding someone on You Tube complaining about one of these and you won't find it. Why? I believe someone has paid You Tube to hide video's of these guitars that show how poorly made they are. These days everyone complains about everything. Guitar snobs are everywhere. Cheap budget guitars have been the complaint of many American Musicians for over 50 years.. But buy one and try to make a video on these being poorly made. I bet you don't get any views on your video. I hope this information helps someone. But then again, Sweetwater hasn't posted part one of this review, so I'm not sure anyone will ever read it.
