Connecting your gear to the AIR Hub
Now that we have everything taken care of, let’s get your gear set up and connected! The M-Audio AIR Hub is unique because it’s an output monitoring system and a powered USB hub. Setup is straightforward, but we highly recommend that you connect your AIR Hub directly to your computer, not to another hub, as you may run into connectivity issues.
- Turn the Monitor Level knob down, then connect your speakers.
- Do the same with the headphones if you have them connected.
- Connect the USB from the USB-C connector on the back to an available USB port on your computer.
Using the AIR Hub outside of a DAW
If you’re only going to be using the AIR Hub as a hub for things like external hard drives and a playback device for your computer (Not using it for recording). The setup is simple:
- Once the AIR Hub is connected to your computer, select the AIR Hub as your primary output/playback device within Audio MIDI setup (Mac) or Sound Settings (Windows).
- Start playing audio, then slowly turn the Monitor Level and Headphone Level knobs until they’re at a comfortable listening level.
Using the AIR Hub while using a DAW
You can use the AIR Hub as a monitor controller while inside your DAW, as well. The setup is similar, but you’ll need to update the DAW settings so it can route the output signal through the AIR Hub.
- Launch your DAW, then go to its audio I/O settings.
- Change the output so that it’s set as the AIR Hub.
- If you have any MIDI devices such as MIDI keyboards or DAW controllers connected via the USB hub, you’ll want to update those settings as well.
Not getting any output?
If you’re not getting output from the M-Audio AIR Hub outside of your DAW, double-check that it’s set as the primary output. If you’re not getting input inside your DAW, you may need to create an aggregate device. Check out our article on how to create aggregate devices on Mac and PC!
