Triad-Orbit Technology

IO Quick-Change Couplers

You’ll find Triad-Orbit’s IO Quick-Change Couplers on all their stands and most of their adapters and attachments as well. These couplers are superior to standard quick-release mic couplers for a number of reasons. For one thing, they lock into place so solidly that they’re capable of supporting far more than just microphones. Simple IO Quick-Change Couplers such as the IO-H1 let you swap out mics in seconds. IO Quick-Change Couplers also come standard on Triad-Orbit booms and other accessories, which makes it easy to completely reconfigure your stands for any task.

Orbital Micro Adapters

Orbital Micro Adapters feature a stem-and-ball mount, which lets you position your microphone at any angle and orientation. Their full 360-degree range allows you to easily reach into tight spaces at odd angles, making them ideal for acoustic pianos and drum sets. Stick a mic mounted on a Micro Adapter in front of a guitar cabinet or snare drum, and you’ll find the sweet spot in record time. Worried about stability? Don’t be. Once you tighten down the clutch, that ball isn’t going to move on you. Triad-Orbit Micro Adapters come in two basic configurations, the long-stem Micro 1/M1 and the short-stem Micro 2/M2. Choose between IO Quick-Change connectors or standard 5/8″ mic threading.

  • Perfect for fine mic positioning and reaching tight spaces
  • Micro 1/M1 features a long stem and a highly flexible rotation range
  • Micro 2/M2 features a short stem and side grooves for added stability
  • High-performance screw clutch locks the ball mechanism in place
  • Available with IO Quick-Change connectors or retrofit 5/8″ threading

Triad Stands

Solid-metal Tripod Base

Beyond their impressive build quality and the integrated IO Quick-Change connector, there are three wonderful things about Triad Stands everyone should know. First off, the tripod legs are made of solid metal. Unlike metal tube legs that are built to be lightweight and easy to move, Triad Stand bases are built to be stable and hard to move. Onstage, these stands pay for themselves by preventing your mics from getting knocked over; whereas the support they provide for heavy yet delicate condenser mics makes them ideal for studio use too.

Individually Adjustable Leg Angles

Individually Adjustable Leg Angles

Triad Stands’ weighted bases are also important because they incorporate Triad’s unique multi-position legs. You can set each leg independently to one of four angles via a stable ratcheting mechanism. This is a major convenience for two reasons. First, by ratcheting all three legs to the same height, you can overlap bases to get your stands right next to one another. That’s something anyone who’s had to mic up a tight drum kit can appreciate. Second, by ratcheting up only one leg, you can tilt your stand up to 65 degrees, eliminating the need for a boom for many applications. Thanks to the weighted base, you still get greater stability than you’d get from a typical stand, but if you need more, you can always add a set of GB-3 Grav Bags to increase the weight.

Industrial-grade Clutch

Finally, there’s the Triad Stand clutch. One of the biggest stand problems engineers face is clutch failure. That’s because the average clutch is one of the areas where manufacturers compromise to reduce the cost of their stands, and it’s the first thing to wear out. Using Triad Stands means no more drooping mics! With industrial-grade clutches on all their telescoping shafts, Triad Stands won’t slip or fail on you. Once tightened, these clutches aren’t going to move, even under loads that would cripple ordinary stands. At the same time, knurled metal clutch barrels make Triad Stands easy to adjust, so you never have to worry about locked up grip clutches or over-tightened thumb screws.

  • Solid tripod bases are extremely stable and hard to knock over
  • Independent ratcheting 4-position legs let you stack bases
  • Securely tilt your stand up to 65 degrees for boom-like reach
  • High-capacity, industrial-grade clutches on all telescoping shafts
  • Available in 4 sizes: tall T3, standard T2, short T1, and mini TM

Orbit Booms

The Triad-Orbit stand system gets truly modular when you consider all the possibilities their Orbit Booms and other extensions offer. Orbit Booms come in five configurations, from a small single-boom arm to a complex dual-boom system. Orbit swiveling joints with heavy-duty locks provide an extensive positioning range to accommodate any recording or sound-reinforcement application. Industrial-grade clutches provide rock-solid telescopic length adjustments, and IO Quick-Change connectors allow you to connect any Triad-Orbit IO Component.

  • Orbit Arm/OA with an IO-A2 creates a simple, free-standing boom arm
  • Orbit Mini/OM and Orbit 1/O1 single booms feature telescopic arms
  • Dual-arm Orbit 2/O2 models are perfect for stereo and complex miking
  • Orbit swiveling ball connectors provide 360-degree angle flexibility
  • Industrial-grade clutches and IO Quick-Change Couplers

Additional IO Components

Triad-Orbit is constantly expanding their product line with cool new IO component mounts. The IO-Vector Stereo Utility Bar is a configurable dual/triple IO Quick-Change mount that’s perfect for multi-mic recording techniques. Combine one or more with IO-A series boom extensions, and you can easily set up Decca tree and even more complex stereo configurations. There are also IO Component mounts for your iPad, camera, laptop, or VESA display. Other components, such as the IO-C Clamp and IO-W Wall Plate, are great alternative bases for the Orbit Arm/OA boom base. Add a short boom arm, and you have a perfect way to get inside a piano or mount a short boom extension to your wall or ceiling.

  • Expand your system with modular mounts and attachments
