Paul Reed Smith Guitars has unveiled their latest, the McCarty 594. A vintage-inspired instrument, the McCarty 594 combines effortless playability, authentic vintage tones, versatile sonic selections, and gorgeous looks. The McCarty 594 is named for its scale length, 24.594″, as well as for Paul Smith’s longtime friend and mentor, Ted McCarty. It features 58/15LT humbucking pickups — “LT” referencing “low turns,” for a warm, clear tone like a vintage PAF. Dual volume and tone controls shape the tones, with a three-way pickup selector switch directing the output. The tone controls feature push/pull coil taps for single-coil tonal options.
A new Pattern Vintage neck carve has the same width as the standard PRS Pattern carve, but is slightly thicker front to back and is also asymmetrical for maximum comfort. An added set screw on the Phase III tuners promotes even better tonal transfer, while the stop tailpiece/bridge anchor the strings to the body. Completing the specs are a figured maple top, mahogany back and neck, and a rosewood fingerboard with binding and bird inlays.
