Awesome tones & piano like sustain. The neck is a little longer and frets a bit wider than a guitar by design, but WORTH it. Powerful! Love the lows, miss & highs!
Tone Monster!
I purchase the SE277 to fill a sonic space in my recording arsenal. I'd been using a Squire Bass VI, but wanted something a little more guitar like in both scale and tone. Happy to say that this instrument did not disappoint. Fit and finish is perfect. The set neck is very comfortable, and no doubt contributes to the fantastic tone and sustain. I really like the classy maple body binding as well. All hardware is solid, and the electronics allow plenty of versatility. The split coil wasn't something I was overly concerned with until I heard it in action. Really glad they thought to include that option. I also like the pickups. I've changed out a lot of pickups over the years for one reason or another, but in this case I don't see the need. All in all, this has to be one of the best "bang for the buck" baritones out there. PRS quality and sensibilities are on the job with this one.
Phenomenal guitar
What can I say?..except WOW !
The look and. Feel of thos guitar is fantastic.
The sound is out of this world.
The playability..fantastic.
It's all you'll need for a baritone guitar.
I suggest capoing thos up to the 5r
5th fret.youll be in tune with the rest if your band with a higher tonality on the strings.
It's fantastic. I couldn't be happier with this guitar.
It's everything you could want or need in a baritone guitar.
Drop Tuned Beast!!!!
This Paul Reed Smith is an absolute masterpiece. The longer neck makes down tuning and playing so much more enjoyable than a standard scale guitar. Everything from the design and feel of this guitar is perfect, and I highly encourage everyone else to pick this up as well.
Prs se 277
This is long overdue. Bought this baby a month ago and it has been perfect. First let me say that sales engineer Mike Godlove needs a raise. He has gone above and beyond to get me so much awesome gear. But this guitar has seriously surpassed my expectations. It's a work of art, and it plays and sounds awesome. The stock tuners are great. The stock pickups are great. This thing also feels so sturdy. Normally when you see a guitar that looks this good, you want to handle with extreme care. But I play hard and angry and this thing takes a beating. I highly recommend it. Thanks Mike! And thanks to all of Sweetwater.
Good instrument with some issues
Im a luthier/tech by trade and I was able to fix the issues but for a guitar in the price range I expected more. Upon first inspection I noticed the output jack nut was loose and had been spun because the ground wire soldered to the jack had broken off and required re-soldering. The toggle switch was dead in the middle and neck positions and would only output on the bridge pickup. I disassembled the switch and sprayed the toggle connections with electronic contact cleaner, then the switch worked again. The strings had a lot of tarnishing on them and needed changed immediately. The volume pot was extremely noisy and scratchy and cut in and out when it was moved, It started working again after I had sprayed contact cleaner in the pot and worked it back and forth a lot.
The build quality is good and the finish is done well. The tuning machines feel cheap and are not as smooth as they should be. The pickups are cold and brittle and do not sound good. The hardware is okay and the bridge feels pretty solid. The neck is wonderful and is very comfortable. This is a good baritone as a modding platform but dont expect to get a high quality instrument. It will need mods and maintenance. Ive ordered a lot of instruments and gear from Sweetwater over the years. Things get damaged in transport and its not really anybodys fault but this order fell pretty flat. I came with the 55 point inspection card with all the stuff checked off but there is no way they checked the switch, the jack or the pots. They were all non functioning. I have a PRS S2 Custom 24 and its a phenomenal instrument. This is my first SE and I dont think ill buy another.
