What’s the difference between Melodyne in Stand alone, Rewire, Bridge and Plugin modes?

Melodyne can work as a completely stand alone recording and editing application. It can do recording, editing and mixing without any host application.

Melodyne Rewire allows Melodyne to connect to a Rewire host application and play it’s audio output through the host. This is most useful when the audio your editing is one contiguous audio file, as it requires you to import the audio into Melodyne from within Melodyne itself before editing.

Melodyne Bridge shows up in the host application as a plugin, but still requires Melodyne to run as a separate application. It allows you to “record” audio from the host into Melodyne through the bridge and then play it back through the same audio channel in the host that the Bridge plugin is on. When there is not audio at a point in time in Melodyne, audio from the host’s audio track is heard. If there is audio at a point in Melodyne, this audio will be heard from Melodyne through the host, replacing what would normally be playing from the host’s track. It’s useful when just editing small portions of the original audio, like words or phrases, but also works for large portions of audio. It requires “recording” the audio into Melodyne in realtime.

Melodyne Plugin, works the same as Melodyne Bridge, but doesn’t require opening the Melodyne application separately. The audio is “recorded” into the plugin and plays back the same as Melodyne Bridge.
