How can I uninstall and reinstall my Play Engine?
Before anything, please be sure that the USER ACCOUNTS CONTROL AND ANY AND ALL SPYWARE OR FIREWALL OR ANTIVIRUS ON THE SYSTEM IS DISABLED. User Accounts Control is found at the Control Panel Level of the computer. It must be set to NEVER NOTIFY. Any other computer defenders you have enabled on the system will hinder installation and any progress you would otherwise make. If you have PREVIOUSLY run the Update, go to ADD REMOVE programs at the Control Panel level and remove the Play Update(s) that you find.
To uninstall your PLAY Library from your PC do the following:
-go to the Control Panel from the ‘Start’ menu.
-in Windows XP, look for the ‘Add/Remove Programs’ control panel feature, in Vista simply look for ‘Programs’ in the control panel.
-Simply select the PLAY Products you want to uninstall and select ‘Remove’ or ‘Uninstall’.

In the custom install screen of the installer, check-mark the boxes (MAC) or choose the picture of the Hard Drive that says to “install entire feature on local hard drive” from the drop down menus (PC) next to each product to ensure all selected titles are brought to the latest program version. Then when it asks about the play_vst.dll or the play_x64vst.dll hit the Browse Button and put the proper dll whether 32 bit or 64 bit into the proper vst folder for your DAW host system.
The LIBRARY ONLY will be installed from the dvds. When you run the installer, select only the library and de select everything else, or you can bypass the installer and simply drag the Library folder off of each disc to the hard drive you want it to be on. They will merge together into one large folder.
When you run the update and select “the entire feature will be dowloaded to the hard drive” for each library you own, then you can go back and install from the discs. If the main installer still does not work, you can use the data installer inside of the data folder on each disc or you can simply drag the Library folder from each disc to the desired hard drive location. Offer applies only to single-receipt qualifying purchases. Select manufacturers may require that only the manufacturer’s products qualify towards the minimum purchase amount needed to be eligible for promotional financing. Otherwise, an invoice that meets the minimum purchase amount and contains at least one qualifying manufacturer product is eligible for promotional financing. No interest will be charged on promo purchase balance, and equal monthly payments are required on promo purchase until it is paid in full. The payments equal the amount financed divided by the number of months in the promo period, rounded up to the next whole dollar. These payments may be higher than the payments that would be required if this purchase was a non-promo purchase. During the last month(s) of the promo period the required monthly payment may be reduced due to the prior months’ rounding. Regular account terms apply to non-promo purchases. New Accounts as of 07/31/2025: Purchase APR is 34.99%. Penalty APR is 39.99%. Min Interest Charge is $2. Existing cardholders: See your credit card agreement terms. Subject to credit approval.

The estimated required monthly payment shown which excludes taxes and delivery equals the amount financed divided by the number of months in the promo period, rounded up to the next cent. During the last month(s) of the promo period the required monthly payment may be reduced due to this rounding. These payments apply only with the financing offer shown. If you make these payments by the due date each month, you should pay off this amount financed within the promo period, if it is the only balance you are paying off. If you have other balances on your account, this payment will be added to any other minimum monthly payments.
