Installing an East West Native Instruments-powered Library on PC

To install an East West NI-powered library on a PC, follow this procedure:

  1. Insert Disc One into your computer
  2. Run the installer. NOTE: If you are installing a Platinum, Gold, or Silver Orchestra Pro Bundle (or Pro XP Expansion) than you only need to run the installer on your “Pro XP Disc One”.. do not run the installer on the original Disc One
  3. When prompted about what kind of installation you would like to perform, choose “Easy” or “Custom”. The Easy installation will install the Standalone application, registration tool, library folder, AU, VST, and RTAS plugins.
  4. You will prompted for installation locations next. The first prompt will ask you where you would like to install the Application. It will default to your Program Files folder on your C drive. Choose this location. The second prompt will ask you where you would like to install the Library folder and its contents. The content library can be installed on a drive separate from your system drive.  Thirdly the installer will ask you for the location for the VST plugin, this will depend on your host sequencer, as each one generally has its own VST Plugins folder.  By default this will just go in the Program Files folder with the application.
  5. When the installer has finished, click Quit.
  6. If your library came with more than one DVD, navigate to your product’s Library folder on your computer and open it. If the Library folder does not contain any .nks files, copy the .nks files located on Disc One of your library and paste them into the product’s Library folder on your computer.
  7. Insert Disc Two, copy the .nks files on it and paste them into the product’s Library folder on your computer. Repeat step 7 with the remaining discs in your library. It is recommended that you copy each file individually, rather than an entire DVD at once. NOTE: If you are installing a Platinum, Gold, or Silver Pro Bundle (or Pro XP Expansion) than you need to copy the .nks files from the original discs as well (including the original Disc One).
  8. To register you will need to download the “NI Service Center” from the Native Instruments Unprotected Updates Page. It will be the first link under “Important Tools and Patches.”
  9. Open the library once in Standalone mode (not plugin) for it to complete authorization. Once it opens simply quit it.
  10. Check for Kompakt player updates at Native Instruments (you need to be logged in to see updates)
  11. Download the DFD extension and any library updates from our Updates Page.
