Register the Shure MVi
NOTE: Keep your Sweetwater invoice handy, as you’ll need that to fill out some information and also upload it to your account.
The first step in the setup process is to register your MVi interface with Shure. By registering the MVi, you’ll receive in-depth product support as well as an extended two-year warranty. Follow these steps to register your interface.
- Log into your Shure account. If you don’t have an account, you can create one here.
- Make sure to enter a valid email address during the account creation process, as Shure will send an account activation link needed to complete the account creation process.
- Click the Register my Products button, then click the green REGISTER PRODUCT button on your account homepage.
- Enter the MVi serial number, then click FIND MY PRODUCT.
- Enter all of the purchase information, drag a copy of your interface from your desktop, then click SUBMIT.

Install ASIO4ALL (PC users only)
The Shure MVi portable audio interface is class-compliant on Mac computers as it runs on the native macOS Core Audio engine. On the other hand, PC users will need to download ASIO4ALL for the MVi to communicate correctly with the computer. Follow these steps to download and install ASIO4ALL. Mac users can skip this step and continue to MVi setup and connections.
- Go to www.asio4all.org, then click the latest version listed to begin the download.
- Navigate to your Downloads folder, run the installer, then follow the on-screen instructions.
- During the installation process, make sure that you have the “off-line settings” box checked, as that will allow you to make any changes outside of your recording software.
Shure MVi setup and connections
Now that you have everything set up, it’s time to get your MVi interface set up and connected. One great thing is that not only can you connect it to your PC or Mac, but you can also connect it to any iOS or Android device!
Connect to your computer
When it comes to desktop or laptop computers, all you need to do is use the included micro-USB to USB cable, connect it to any available USB port, then update your computer’s sound settings. From there, simply connect your equipment, choose an effects setting and start recording! If you need to turn phantom power (+48v) on, press and hold the Mute button for approximately 3 seconds.
It’s recommended to connect it directly to your computer and not a hub. The Shure MVi requires 250 mA for the port you’re connecting. USB hubs (particularly passive hubs) may prevent the MVi from properly communicating with your computer. If necessary, reconfigure your USB connections, so the Shure MVi is connected directly to your computer.
The MVi isn’t showing up on my computer!
If your Shure MVi isn’t showing up on your computer, reconnect the interface by unplugging and plugging it back in. If you have not done so yet, try reconfiguring the USB connections so that MVi is connected directly to your computer. Sometimes USB hubs cannot provide enough power for bus-powered devices, especially for hubs that do not have their own power supply (aka passive hubs). If the problem persists, try a different USB port or cable. Visit our Windows and Mac guides for more tips on resolving audio device connectivity.

Learn MoreHow to connect to iOS and Android devices
Just like connecting the interface to your computer, all you need to do is use the included micro-USB to USB-C cable and connect to your mobile device. Your mobile device will be powerful enough to supply power to your MVi, but you’ll only get 16v of Phantom Power when connected. This means any instrument or microphone that requires a full +48v will not work.
The Shure MVi also comes with a free app called Shure Motiv for both Android and iOS, which allows you to record and share any audio you’ve created.
Update your computer’s sound settings
When your computer plays audio, the sound is output through a selected audio device. To choose your Shure MVi Mac or PC’s audio device, you’ll need to update the Sound settings. These settings will apply to most apps and features, but most audio software has its own audio settings, too.
That means your DAW or other related audio software needs to know what the audio device is and what inputs and outputs are being used. To test audio playback with your new Shure MVi, update the computer’s Sound settings and then play sound from a web browser, like a video from our YouTube channel.
Mac
- From the Menu Bar, click the Apple icon and select System Preferences.
- Click Sound.
- Under the Output and Input tabs, select the MVi interface.
PC
- From your Windows taskbar, right-click the sound icon and select Open Sound Settings.
- Select your Shure MVi from the Output and Input dropdown boxes.
- Test your output by scrolling down to and selecting the Sound Control Panel, click the Playback tab, right-click the MVi, then click Test.

Select manufacturers may require that only the manufacturer’s products qualify towards the minimum purchase amount needed to be eligible for promotional financing. Otherwise, an invoice that meets the minimum purchase amount and contains at least one qualifying manufacturer product is eligible for promotional financing. No interest will be charged on promo purchase balance, and equal monthly payments are required on promo purchase until it is paid in full. The payments equal the amount financed divided by the number of months in the promo period, rounded up to the next whole dollar. These payments may be higher than the payments that would be required if this purchase was a non-promo purchase. During the last month(s) of the promo period the required monthly payment may be reduced due to the prior months’ rounding. Regular account terms apply to non-promo purchases. New Accounts as of 07/31/2025: Purchase APR is 34.99%. Penalty APR is 39.99%. Min Interest Charge is $2. Existing cardholders: See your credit card agreement terms. Subject to credit approval.

The estimated required monthly payment shown which excludes taxes and delivery equals the amount financed divided by the number of months in the promo period, rounded up to the next cent. During the last month(s) of the promo period the required monthly payment may be reduced due to this rounding. These payments apply only with the financing offer shown. If you make these payments by the due date each month, you should pay off this amount financed within the promo period, if it is the only balance you are paying off. If you have other balances on your account, this payment will be added to any other minimum monthly payments.
