Q. How do I Select a Pattern?

 

  1. Press the [MODE] button to light up PTN.
  2. In the DISPLAY section press the [PTN/SONG] button.
  3. Use the [INC], [DEC] buttons or the [VALUE] dial to select a Pattern to play back.
  4. In the SEQUENCER section press the [PLAY] button. While the Pattern is playing you can select a new Pattern to play next by using the [INC], [DEC] buttons or the [VALUE] dial.

 


Q. How do I Select a Patch for each Part?

  1.  In the DISPLAY section press the [PATCH] button.
  2. Press the [PART SELECT] button.
  3. Now press one of the Part buttons (R-7) to select the part you would like to change.
  4. Use the [INC] [DEC] buttons or the [VALUE] dial to select a new Patch.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to change the Patch in the remaining parts.

Q. How do I Select a Song?

  1.  Press the [MODE] button to light up SONG.
  2. In the DISPLAY section press the [PTN/SONG] button so that it is lit.
  3. Use the [INC] [DEC] buttons or the [VALUE] dial to select a Song to play back.
  4. In the SEQUENCER section press the [PLAY] button.

Q. How do I Play an RPS?

  1. Press the [RPS/SET] button.
  2. In the KEYBOARD PAD section press the [RPS] button.
  3. Use the [INC] [DEC] buttons or the [VALUE] dial to select an RPS style.
  4. Press the keyboard pads to play an RPS.

Q. What type of Memory Cards can the MC-505 use?

The MC-505 can use the S2M-5 (2 MB type) and the S4M-5 (4 MB type) Smart Media cards. The cards will hold 512 User Patches and 200 User Patterns. A 2 MB card will hold a maximum of 220,000 notes and a 4 MB card will hold 480,000 notes.


Q. How many Patterns can a Song contain?

A Song can have up to 50 Patterns.


Q. How many Arpeggiator Styles are there, and how do I change them?

There are 53 different Arpeggiator styles. To select a different style hold down the Arpeggiator [ON] button and use the [INC] [DEC] buttons or the [VALUE] dial to select a new style.


Q. How do I Save a Pattern I have modified?

  1. Make sure the Pattern is stopped.
  2. Press the [PTN/SONG] button.
  3. Press the [WRITE] button.
  4. If you wish to save the Pattern in the same location then press the [ENTER] button.
  5. If you would like to select a new location to save to press the [USER] or [CARD] button.
  6. Use the [INC] [DEC] buttons or the [VALUE] dial to select a new bank and number.
  7. Press the [ENTER] button. See page 26 in the owners manual for more info on saving Patterns.

Q. How do I Save a Patch I have modified?

Q. How do I adjust the Display Contrast?

  1. Hold down the [SHIFT] button and press keyboard pad [10].
  2. Use the page [<] [>] buttons to select the LCD CONTRAST page.
  3. Use the [INC] [DEC] buttons or the [VALUE] dial to increase the contrast value.
  4. Press the [EXIT] button when finished.

Q. How do I get the MC-505’s Sequencer to Sync with an External MIDI device?

 

  1. Make sure you have a MIDI cable connected from the MIDI Out of the external device to the MIDI In of the MC-505.
  2. Hold down the [SHIFT] button and press keyboard pad [11].
  3. Use the page [<] [>] buttons to select the SYNC MODE page.
  4. Use the [INC] [DEC] buttons or the [VALUE] dial to select SLAVE.
  5. Press the [EXIT] button when finished.

 


Q. Can I change the MIDI Transmit / Receive Channels for each part?

It is not possible to change the channel settings of each part. The MIDI Transmit / Receive Channel settings for each part are as follows:

  • Part 1: Ch.1
  • Part 2: Ch.2
  • Part 3: Ch.3
  • Part 4: Ch.4
  • Part 5: Ch.5
  • Part 6: Ch.6
  • Part 7: Ch.7
  • Rhythm Part: .10

Q. How do I check the remaining amount of Memory Available for use?

  1. Hold down the [SHIFT] button and press keyboard pad [14].
  2. Use the page [<] [>] buttons to select the type of memory you would like to check.
  3. Press the [EXIT] button when finished.
