Extracting CD Audio To .WAV Files
inSync reader Russ C. asks: “What do I need to read a track from a PC’s CD as digital data and create a standard .wav, or other industry standard file format, on my hard drive? I have software that will allow me to copy a CD, in part or in whole, to a temporary CD image file on my hard disk or directly from my CD-ROM to a CD recorder, but not to read the digital data and convert it so that I can edit it with SoundForge. Can you guys help?”Our resident PC software/hardware technical expert Mark Harbst replies: “Yes, CD Architect does this job just fine. It runs as a plug-in within Sound Forge, and ships bundled with Sound ForgeXP for those who don’t already own the full version of Sound Forge.”
