.WAV To .AIF Formats for Macintosh In Sound Forge
Some of you may have discovered that when you convert .WAV files to AIF files (see WFTD AIFF above) using Sound Forge that they do not open on a Mac (which would be the main purpose of the conversion in the first place). The reason is that Sound Forge doesn’t put the file creation type information in the file. This information is required by the Macintosh to recognize file types. You will need to install Sonic Foundry’s AIF Typer utility on the destination Mac for it to open the files. This utility is available at the Sonic Foundry Web site. Another way to accomplish this is to edit the file creator on some other utility program like Rez Edit or SetIts Type.
