Pro Tools 11 is hanging up on “Initializing Audio Engine” while starting up on Windows.
If you find that Pro Tools 11 is hanging up while trying to initialize the audio engine on Windows, this may be because you’ve installed the driver for your interface before Pro Tools. You should always install drivers after installing Pro Tools.
You can try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it. We have also seen installing ASIO4all fix this issue. You can download that from www.asio4all.com.
Once you have it installed, simply hold the “N” key on your keyboard as soon as you see the Pro Tools splash screen and the Playback Engine dialogue will be forced upon startup. Choose ASIO4all as your Playback Engine and you should be all set.
