More On Resetting PC CMOS
We received a variety of responses to our tip on getting around a forgotten PC password (7/18/97); this one came from Bernie H: “Most modern motherboards (last 5 or 6 years, at least) have a Clear CMOS jumper. Just short this jumper and turn the computer on for a moment or two and then turn it back off. Usually the jumper is part of a set of three pins. A jumper usually is placed over pins 1 and 2 to retain the CMOS settings, and temporarily placed over pins 2 and 3 to clear CMOS.” Thanks for the tip, Bernie!
