M-Audio Code Series – Setup in Cubase

The M-Audio Code series controllers are class-compliant MIDI devices, meaning they do not require a special driver to connect with your Windows or Mac computer. Simply plug it in to a USB port to turn it on and begin. It is recommended to plug directly in to your computer and not through a USB hub.

*Windows will perform an installation upon plugging in your Code series controller to ensure compatibility with it’s system MIDI drivers.

Hardware Setup

  1. Press the Edit button
  2. Press and hold the Shift button
  3. Press the C# key on the key bed with the label MACKIE/HUI above it in grey text so that the display reads “MACKIE”
  4. Press the Mode button for the knobs, faders, and assignable buttons so that they are green and the display reads MACHUI. This will allow them to work properly in Cubase.

Software Setup

  1. Launch Cubase and open Device Setup under the Devices menu
  2. Click the button and select Mackie Control from the menu.
  3. Set the input and output to MIDIIN3 or Port 3 (depending on how it appears on your system)
  4. Click Apply and OK
  5. That’s it!
