Raven MTi MAX DAW Setup Guide
For the Raven MTi MAX to work correctly within your DAW, you must first update some of its preferences. This includes MIDI, peripheral, and mixer settings. Once these changes have been made, your Raven is all set to use! Choose your DAW from the list below to get started.

Pro Tools
- Launch Pro Tools.
- Go to Setup, navigate to MIDI, and then select MIDI Input Devices….
- Check the FromSlateMIDI, and Raven 1, 2, 3, and 4 boxes.
- If you own an MTi2 or MTi legacy, select FromSlateMIDI and Raven 1, 2, and 3.
- If Slate Internal MIDI is listed as well, make sure both IN and OUT are checked.
- Go to Setup, select Peripherals, and tap MIDI Controllers.
- Set all four ports to HUI and set the Receive From and Send To to their respective ports. For example, set port 1’s Receive From and Send To to RAVEN 1.
- Windows PC users must go through additional configuration. Review our instructions below before moving to the final step.
- Open the Raven Dashboard, locate Pro Tools, and press Launch.
Additional PC Configuration
After updating the MIDI input devices and controllers and before launching the Raven Dashboard, you will need to update the window configuration so everything is aligned correctly.
- Go to File, choose Import, then select Session Data.
- Navigate to Libraries > Documents > Pro Tools, and within the Pro Tools folder, open Session Templates, Raven Templates folder, and select the template for the Raven you’re using.
- In the window that appears, only check the Windows Configurations box. Click OK.

Cubase
- Launch Cubase.
- Press Studio, select Studio Setup, and press Add Device. Make sure MIDI Input and MIDI Output are set to Not Connected.
- Select Raven, then press OK.
- Press Edit, select Key Commands, and use the Presets dropdown box to load Steinberg Raven Keys.
- Press Edit, select Preferences, and use the Preferences Presets dropdown to load Raven Cubase Preferences. Press Apply, and then OK.
- Open the Raven Dashboard, locate your version of Cubase, and press Launch.

Fender Studio Pro (Studio One)
NOTE: Although Studio One is now Fender Studio Pro, all menu navigation remains the same.
- Launch Fender Studio Pro.
- Click Studio Pro, select Options, and press External Devices.
- Expand the Mackie folder, select Control, and then set the Receive From and Send To to RAVEN 1. Click OK to create the controller.
- Add another controller, but this time, select Control Extender in the Mackie folder and set the Receive From and Send To to RAVEN 2.
- Create two more Control Extenders the same way, but set them to RAVEN 3 and RAVEN 4, respectively.
- If you’re using an MTi 2 or legacy Raven, RAVEN 4 cannot be selected.
- Go back to the External Devices menu, click Placement, and click and drag the Control icon, followed by the Control Extender icons to Group 1.
- Exit the Options menu, click Studio Pro, and choose Key Commands…
- Use the Keyboard mapping scheme dropdown and click Import….
- Select the Fender Studio (Studio One).keyscheme, and click Open. This file should be in your Downloads folder.
- The .keyscheme can be downloaded from the download page in your Slate user account.

Ableton
- Launch Ableton.
- Go to the Settings menu, and navigate to Link, Tempo & MIDI.
- In the first Control Surface dropdown, select MackieControl, and set the Input and Output to RAVEN 1.
- In the next Control Surface dropdown, select MackieControlXT, and set the Input and Output to RAVEN 2.
- Create two more MackieControlXT and set their Input and Output to RAVEN 3 and RAVEN 4, respectively.
- If you’re setting up an MTi2 or Raven legacy, RAVEN 4 will be unavailable.
- Under Input Ports, check all the boxes for FromSlateMIDI, MackieControl Input (RAVEN 1), and the MackieControlXT Inputs (RAVEN 2, 3, 4).
- Under Output Ports, check all boxes for ToSlateMIDI.
- Go back to the Link, Tempo & MIDI menu, and enable Pen Tablet Mode. This makes the response smoother when dragging your finger.
