Getting started with the iRig Stream
In this guide, we will show you how to register, set up, and connect the IK Multimedia iRig Stream for the first time. Follow the sections below to get started.
Register the iRig Stream
Before we get everything set up, you’ll first need to register the iRig Stream with IK Multimedia. By registering your interface with IK Multimedia, you’ll receive an extended warranty. Follow these instructions to register your iRig Stream.
- Log in to your IK Multimedia account. If you don’t have an account, click the red Register button on the right, fill out the required information and then click Register again.
- Go to the registration page, enter the serial number, then click Register.

iRig Stream setup and connections
Integrating your external gear with your iRig Stream is a straightforward process. With just a few connections and a few updates to your mobile device or computer’s audio settings, you’ll be up and running in no time! Follow these steps to set up and connect your iRig Stream.
Before we begin
There are a few important things to know before setting up your equipment, as these can affect the usage of the iRig Stream.
- The RCA input signal must be at line level.
- Most live-streaming apps will not allow playback of copyrighted content.
- Some apps require you to start recording video to activate the microphone.
- Not all apps offer external audio input for video capture. For example, the Instagram Story feature will not allow external audio devices.
- Instagram Live only allows mono signal. Unfortunately, this is not under IK Multimedia’s control. However, posting videos do accept Stereo signals.
- iOS and Mac users: The app you’ll be using must be launched on your device before using the iRig Stream, or else you won’t get any sound.
Connect iRig Stream to your iOS or Android device
Connecting your iRig Stream is just a matter of connecting your gear to the iRig Stream then the iRig Stream to your mobile device.
- Connect the Mini-DIN Lightning (iOS) or USB-C (Android) cable from the iRig Stream to your mobile device.
- Your mobile device powers the iRig Stream, so no additional battery power is required. However, if you would like to have your mobile device to charge while using the iRig Stream, you will need to purchase the IK Multimedia power supply.
- Download then launch the IK Multimedia iRig Recorder LE/3 app from the Google Play Store or the App Store.
- Connect your external gear to the iRig Stream and adjust the levels to where the LED stays steady at green, then use the MONO switch to change between stereo and mono streaming.
- Use the large knob to adjust the signal coming from the RCA inputs, and use the thumbwheel on the side to adjust the signal from the headset inputs.
- Launch the app you will be using and update its audio input and output settings.
Connect iRig Stream to your Mac or PC
Using your iRig Stream with your computer is simple. It’s class-compliant on Mac, meaning you can connect the iRig and start playing. If you’re using a PC, you’ll need to download the driver software for it to work correctly. Follow these steps to set up and connect your iRig Stream on your computer.
- Connect the included USB computer from your iRig Stream to your computer. If you’re a Mac user, continue to step 3.
- Windows users: Go to the iRig Stream’s app download page, then download and install the iRig ASIO driver for Windows.
- Connect your external gear to the iRig Stream and adjust the levels to where the LED stays steady at green, then use the MONO switch to change between stereo and mono streaming.
- Use the large knob to adjust the signal coming from the RCA inputs, and use the thumbwheel on the side to adjust the signal from the headset inputs.
- Launch the app you’ll use with the iRig Stream, and set the iRig Stream as the input.
- If you’re only listening through headphones, update the software’s output to the iRig Stream, as well.
Using the loopback feature
When you turn the loopback switch on, you will be able to hear the signal that is being sent to your device in real-time. Using this feature is especially useful for video streaming or podcasts.
