Download and Install Fender Universal Control

Fender Universal Control is the standalone software needed for setting up and configuring your Quantum audio interface to unlock its full potential and update its firmware. Before setting up the interface, you must download and install Fender Universal Control.

  1. Go to your Quantum product page on the Fender website, scroll down to Software and click on the latest version for your OS.
  2. Navigate to your Downloads folder, locate the installer, and launch it. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Setup and Connections

Now that you’ve registered your interface and installed the software, it’s time to get set up. Setting up the Quantum LT and Quantum HD is simple. With a few simple connections, you’ll be up and running in no time.

  1. Connect the included USB cable from the Quantum interface to your computer.
  2. Turn on the interface, making sure all output connections are turned down.
    • If a new firmware update is available, you will be prompted to install it.
  3. Connect your guitar to the 1/4-inch jack on the front inputs. If you’re recording vocals or a stereo instrument, use the input connections on the back.
  4. Connect condenser microphones before pressing the 48V button (enabling phantom power). Disconnect the microphone after turning off 48V.
  5. Connect your monitor speakers to the Main L and R.
  6. Once everything is connected, adjust your levels as needed. To make it easy, you can use the Auto Gain feature to get the perfect level no matter what instrument you’re recording!

Quantum HD Digital Connections

The Fender Studio Quantum HD interfaces feature digital connections that let you expand your setup even further. They also come with a proprietary DB-9 cable that serves as both a MIDI and S/PDIF connection. In addition, the Quantum HD 8 also has Word Clock I/O. Re-Amping on the Fender Studio Quantum HD

The Quantum HD 2 and HD 8 interfaces feature dedicated hardware inputs that enable re-amping audio signals. Re-amping is the process of recording a dry track and then rerecording by sending the signal through an amp or an effects chain. This is great for recording just one performance while playing around with mic placement, amps, pedals, and effects units without affecting the printed track.

  1. Connect a guitar amp or effects pedal chain input(s) to an output on the front.
  2. Connect a patch cable from an input on the front to the output of your amp or effects pedal chain.
  3. Set the Output routing to channels 11 and 12 in your DAW.
  4. Adjust the settings of your effects or amp, then press Record.
