DMA is not available on my hard drives, and digi001 Pro Tools won’t work. I have Intel Ultra ATA drivers, how can I change them?

The best method is to go to your Start-Settings-Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs and select the Intel UltraATA drivers and hit Add/Remove. You will then be asked to restart your computer. Do so, and upon bootup, it should find new generic IDE drivers which will have the DMA box available to turn on. You should check to see if the Intel drivers are gone.

If the Intel drivers come back, you may need to:
1. Go to the Intel UltraATA PCI IDE controller (Right-click on My Computer, Properties, Device Manager, Hard Disk Controllers) and hit Update Driver.
2. Choose Specify Location, Display list of all drivers, Show All Compatable Hardware
3. Select Standard hard disk drivers at the left, and Standard Dual PCI IDE controller at the right, and hit next to install it.
4. Reboot
5. Check in device manager again. You may need to remove the Primary & Secondary UltraATA controller, and reboot to let it detect Primary & secondary IDE controller (dual FIFO) (make sure it doesn’t have UltraATA or UltraDMA in it.)
6. Check to see that the Standard Dual PCI IDE controller is still there. If it switched back to Intel, simply update the driver again (step 1-4), check to see if it updated, and it should work.
