How do I back up a Digital Performer Session to CDR with Disc Burner? My Mac has the built in CDR recorder.

1. Quit all Programs that are running.(Including Digital Performer)

2. Insert a BLANK CDR into the CD tray on the Mac. You will get a message that says:

“This disc needs to be prepared for burning,Do want to Prepare this Disc?” Name the CD as needed , make sure the “Format” is set to “Standard HFS+ /ISO 9660” and then press the “Prepare” button.

3. The new CD Icon will now appear on the desktop with the name you gave it!

4. Now you can Drag and Drop your Digital Performer Session folder onto the CD Icon on your Desktop! You can add as much as you like, but cant exceed the capacity size of the CDR Media.

5. When you are done adding the items you want to burn, make sure the CD Icon is highlighted (you can click on it just once to highlight it).

6. Go under “Special” in the Apple Menu and you will see “Burn CD-R”. Choose this and you will get the “Are you sure you want to burn the Disc ” name you gave disc ” . Press the “Burn” button!

7. The Mac will now start to burn the CD! It may take several minutes depending on the size of the Data you are burning. When the CD is done , the tray will open and you can take out your new CD.

8. IMPORTANT!!! If you have more Data then your CD can hold, create a second blank folder and split up the contents of your Audio files folder (located in the Digital Performer session folder) , into 2 separate Folders. Now you can burn the First CD with the Digital Performer Session folder (containing the Digital Performer Session File, Audio files folder with up to 650-700 megs of Audio files and Fades Folder with fade files.) Now you can burn a Second CD of the 2 Folder which holds the remaining Audio files. When coping this data back to your Hard Drive, copy the Digital Performer Session folder first, then open its Audio Files folder, and copy the remaining Audio Files off of the 2nd CDR into it!. Now your ProTools Session is complete! Eject the CDR and open the Digital Performer CD and it will be just as you last saved it!

9. Also you can NOT add to a Disk burned with Disc Burner! It finalizes the CD. So , if you only burned 45megs of info to the CD,there is room left , but you CANT access it. Only “Toast” for Mac, will allow multisession Disks to be burned.
