Designed in collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and John Mayer, every element of the PRS Silver Sky — from the pickups to the neck profile to even the headstock shape — was laboriously tweaked and modified over a two-year development period to meet John’s exacting requirements. The result? An impeccable instrument that captures the soul of a vintage guitar while simultaneously pushing its playability and performance into the stratosphere.
The PRS Silver Sky’s trio of PRS 635JM pickups sing with a decidedly vintage-tinged tone, replicating the bell-like chime, warmth, and glassy character of single-coils pickups without ever venturing into ice-pick territory. And much to the pleasure of vintage players everywhere, PRS Silver Sky models also leverage a modern wiring scheme that allows you to shape the bridge position’s bite with the tone knob.
