PRS Silver Sky Electric Guitar - Satin Moc Sand with Maple Fingerboard Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Alder Body, Maple Neck, Maple Fingerboard, 3 Single-coil Pickups, and Steel Tremolo - Satin Moc Sand

The PRS Silver Sky was designed by Paul Reed Smith and built to John Mayer's specifications. This vintage-inspired guitar boasts a familiar shape with an eye-catching contrasting tone in its cutaway scoop. Its neck carve, scale length, and fingerboard radius were modeled after John's early-1960s instruments; however, a modified PRS-style headstock and locking tuners propel it firmly into the 21st century. Park this axe in front of any tube amp, and its sweet-sounding single-coil pickups will churn out glassy, musical tones with excellent note definition. Beyond that, the Silver Sky includes a bone nut, molded metal jack plate, retooled knobs, custom fret wire, and PRS's double-action truss rod.

PRS Moc Sand Silver Sky Maple

By DB from Tulsa on April 24, 2022 Music Background: Inspired by all music

The PRS Silver Sky is nicely made instrument, the flat finish of the Moc Sand is nice to behold, The neck and feel is very comfortable, and the 7.5 radius has effortless playability, the resonance is very good , very consistent with my other maple Silver Sky I have, the guitar came extremely well set up , intonation and action ; the fret work is very nicely polished,
and most important aspect , is the tone and sound of these pickups, they cover every genre of music one can play , rhythm, blues, rock , jazz, funk, etc The Silver Sky for me personally is a very inspirational musical instrument that is a joy to play , I've tried a couple of the SE models and they are very nicely finished and very playable, almost similar, but to my ears the the most noticeable difference was the pickups , the core model is absolutely different, by way of separation of the bass and mid notes , not so much in clean tones , but more apparent when playing driven chords .
at the price point the SE is an excellent guitar very nicely made , great playability, but the core model is a special guitar , if I could place the core model pickups in the SE and some locking tuners i wouldn't hesitate to buy an SE ,I do play a Suhr Strat with wonderful 60 lp single coils different Strat instruments in its own right But for now I'm extremely satisfied and content with this Silver Sky core model.
For me the Silver Sky is testament to PRS and John Mayer have placed a very special instrument in the hands of many music lovers as possible.
I've never played a 63 vintage Strat , let alone be able to afford one , my honest opinion is the Silver Sky is as close as you'll get , for a lot less money. Thanks John and Paul The PRS Silver Sky is nicely made instrument, the flat finish of the Moc Sand is nice to behold,
