PRS Silver Sky Electric Guitar - Midnight Rose with Rosewood Fingerboard Reviews
The PRS Silver Sky was designed by Paul Reed Smith and built to John Mayer's specifications. This vintage-inspired guitar boasts a familiar shape with an eye-catching contrasting tone in its cutaway scoop. Its neck carve, scale length, and fingerboard radius were modeled after John's early-'60s instruments; however, a modified PRS-style headstock and locking tuners propel it firmly into the twenty-first century. Park this axe in front of any tube amp, and its sweet-sounding single-coil pickups will churn out glassy, musical tones with excellent note definition. Beyond that, the Silver Sky includes a bone nut, molded metal jack plate, retooled knobs, custom fret-wire, and PRS's double-action truss rod.

PRS Nailed it with this one!!!
It's been a few months now since receiving my silver sky, midnight rose color with the rosewood fretboard. The day I opened the box I was in awe at how beautiful this instrument is, the fit and finish is perfect.. I can't find a single flaw. I was also surprised it was still in perfect tune after sitting on a fed ex truck for a few days. My only gripe at first strum was the awful set up… then I found the paper in the case describing the specific set up to John Mayers particular specifications… which completely explained why it was set up the way it was. A very quick adjustment completely made this guitar feel right at home. This guitar is wonderful and worth every single penny… this was a zero regrets purchase and if you're on the fence… jump off and pull the trigger.
The guitar you don’t ever want to put down.
The body. The neck. The fretboard. The dang pickups. Every guitar I've ever played in my life has prepared me to play this Silver Sky with such confidence and absolute pleasure.
I say you don't want to put it down because it is by far the most comfortable neck I've ever played. If you're used to strats with a c-shaped neck, this will feel like absolute butter. A neck shouldn't be allowed to ever feel this slick and comfortable, but here we are. After hours of playing it, my fingers are not worn out and I realize, "Wow, I can keep going tbh."
The pickups are just, are you kidding? You have to experience it to believe it. Before picking up this guitar, definitely see if you can try it out. I had to pleasure of trying an early model in 2019, but haven't touched one since I purchased mine. Every pickup combination is super crisp, but holy— that neck/middle. It's honestly a thing of beauty, and I can't stop going crazy over it.
If you're on the fence, do it. Choose whether you want a gloss neck (rosewood) or satin neck (maple), and then your body color. Let it grow on you and buy this guitar because honestly once you get it, you can't imagine not having it in your arsenal.
Old School Strat turned into a space ship!
PRS has done it again! This collab with Mayer is perfect! You've got to get your hands on one and try it for yourself.
STRAT with PRS Quality
Playability is incredible - probably the best of the many strats I own, including makes by Tom Anderson and Lentz. No fret buzz anywhere, despite low action. Stays in tune, too. Sound is big, clear and complex, rivalling that of my Lentz. No dips in output or treble in positions 2 and 4. Light weight is a welcome bonus. I would wholeheartedly recommend this guitar to strat-lovers. Service from Sweetwater excellent as usual - thank you, Ryan.
Baseball bat neck
I love Prs but this guitar is the worst guitar I've ever played. It feels like a cheap construction and the neck is worse than a 50's Gibson. I feel like I was playing in a broom stick. I sold mine just a couple weeks after buying it. I much rather a Squier than the silver sky. I still love PRS and I will still buying PRS guitar but not this model. All hype.
