The latest plug-in from Waves is the BSS DPR 402 compressor/limiter/de-esser. Long a favorite for studio, live sound, and broadcast applications, the DPR 402 has been heard on countless recordings, concerts, and productions since it was introduced in the ’80s. Now, in association with BSS Audio, Waves has modeled the versatile vintage hardware unit. Like the original, the DPR 402 plug-in provides everything from low-frequency expansion to narrow-band compression to general dynamic equalization. In addition Waves has included five new features:
- An M/S matrix for separately processing the mid and sides
- A Mix control to balance dry sound with processed sound
- A Noise control for removing the noise produced by the original unit
- A Gain Reduction control
- Separate left and right metering
The DPR 402 plug-in is available separately or as part of the Mercury, Pro Show, and SD7 plug-in bundles.
