Check out What Dynamic EQ Can Do

Music is dynamic. For precision sound sculpting, your EQ should be, too. Sweetwater has the answer: Waves' F6 Floating-Band Dynamic EQ plug-in. It's the ultimate problem solver, deftly handling equalization, compression, expansion, and de-essing duties; both live and in the studio. F6 has six bands, each featuring powerful EQ and dynamic controls that let you zoom in on any problem and automatically correct it whenever it arises. Once you hear what the F6 can do, you'll consider applying EQ to a frequency range and leaving it there for the entire track rather primitive. Sensitive to the dynamics of your signal, the F6 lets you specify precisely when when a specific frequency will be boosted or cut, compressed or expanded.

Amazing on vocals

Let's consider what the Waves F6 can do for vocals. A vocalist’s tonality changes throughout a performance depending on proximity to the microphone. An EQ curve that works great when the singer is singing softly close to the mic will not be as effective when she pulls back and starts belting. And vice versa. The F6 moves in sync with the vocalist, kicking in when the signal level crosses a threshold that you’ve specified — and laying out when it falls below that threshold. Dynamic, like a compressor.

Wimpy kick?

Your kick drum needs punch. You determine it's being masked by certain frequencies in the bass. You try notching those out with a standard EQ, but that wrecks the bass sound. The solution: dynamic EQ, using the kick drum signal as a sidechain trigger, and a very quick attack and release. Now the bass is being equalized only when the kick hits. With the offending frequencies of the bass momentarily attenuated, listeners can hear the full impact of the kick drum.

Precision equalization

With the F6, filters can be as wide or narrow as you wish. The free-floating bands can overlap, have variable Q, and as we've discussed, be threshold-sensitive. It's perfect for isolating specific issues with individual tracks and correcting them transparently, only when they occur. The F6’s advanced mid-side processing gives lets you carve out space in a crowded mix to breathe new life into it. With the Waves' F6 dynamic EQ plug-in, you finally have an equalizer as dynamic as your music.

Waves F6 Floating-Band Dynamic EQ Features:

Muy buena herramienta para EQ

INCREDIBLE EQ

I suppose like most studios, you have what seems like a zillion EQs, right? Well finally, you can narrow them all down to one! The Waves F6 EQ is that one elusive EQ that just seems to have the right mojo. You can spend a lot of time trying to get your EQ perfect and find you’re still not quite nailing it. But not so with the Waves F6 Floating-Band Dynamic EQ plug-in... This is one EQ that makes your mixes sound immensely polished without spending massive amounts of your precious time and effort. It’s really a well thought out EQ, and the floating-band feature is so nice.
With this EQ you can actually start with a couple of the presets to quickly narrow down your starting equalization; and with minimal tweaking, it’s super easy to polish your mixes. Best to spend a little time with some of the tutorials on YouTube though to get the most out of your F6, because there’s a few features you’ll want to nail down and the videos speed up learning the small-but-important features. The F6 is a do-it-all EQ and it’s super easy to get those magic mixes. You’ll love the floating point feature & the way the F6 is laid out. It’s controls are logically arranged to make for fluid workflow. I find the F6 is every bit as quality as the much higher priced FabFilter EQ.

Fixes almost anything

I've been using Fabfilter's Pro-MB for a long time, after buying the mastering bundle, but I definitely prefer the F6 after trying it out. The "vocal control" and "open up" presets are excellent starting points to clean things up, then you just play with the thresholds and ranges of each band. The de-essing is very good on the F6.

My Go-To EQ

As an idiot that doesn't always install software right away, I made the mistake of purchasing this plugin twice... You know what, though... It's worth at least double the price! This has quickly become my go-to EQ and has found it's way on everything from vocals to guitars to keys to the master chain. Highly recommend!

Streamlined

Usually it takes multiple steps and a number of plugins to achieve controlling the things that this plugin does all at your fingertips.

We have all had those frequencies in someone's voice, or maybe an instrument, that get out of control just for an instant. We need to find them and control them with a quick volume change, a touch up with a bit of EQ, or who knows what.

This wonderful plug in has several key pieces at my fingertips and has streamlined the process, making it so much easier, translating into faster.

Again, any engineer worth their salt knows how to accomplish the same things, but it still takes several different plugins and moved, taking more time to make it happen. This is a true time saver and keys right in where you need to be.

Wonderful!

Since the early days of DAW software, Waves has been a dominating force in music and audio production. For those of us here at Sweetwater who've been recording since the industry switched over to computer-based studios, it's impossible to imagine sessions without L series Ultramaximizers, MaxxBass, and other staples. Since then, we've been impressed every time Waves has brought top producers such as Jack Joseph Puig and Chris Lord-Alge to Sweetwater to show off their next cutting-edge creations, and Waves is constantly adding new and innovative plug-ins to their catalog. And with cool new gear such as their SoundGrid series, Sweetwater engineers have discovered just how easy it is to use Waves plug-ins live.
