A certain amount of fanfare always greets the arrival of a new RODE mic, and this time we have not one but two additions to their NT family to cheer about. Actually, the NT4 and NT5 are (in a sense) the same mic, just in different packages. The NT4 is a remarkable stereo mic with dual 90 XY placed, externally polarized single-diaphragm condenser transducers – two heads, one mic. As clean sounding as its NT4, the NT5 is a matched pair with the same cardioid pattern as the NT4 condensers but with no XY design.

Event Electronics has released two new firmware updates for their EZbus controller.
The first is EZbus firmware V_102 – it adds:
Fully-parametric mid-band EQ on each audio channel
Digital optical output compatibility with a wider range of devices, including Digidesign 001, Echo Layla 24, Wavecenter PCI, and Frontier Designs Dakota
Power-up test routine
System diagnostics
S/PDIF output 1 timing has been corrected
The second is EZbus firmware V_102PT. This adds everything stated above plus JL Cooper CS-10 emulation making EZbus a controller for Pro Tools.
The Pro Tools CS-10 profile is included in the download. One disclaimer: using the firmware V_102PT renders EZbus unusable as a control surface for Cubase and Sonar. You may reload V_102 firmware at anytime.
Both updates are available for free at Event’s website.
