The PodMic Just Got More Versatile

Podcasters and content creators worldwide have relied on the RODE PodMic for clean, clear vocals. Sweetwater is proud to present its successor, the PodMic USB dynamic broadcast microphone, which ups the ante by building on the legacy of the PodMic and introducing a range of new features. First and foremost, USB-C and XLR outputs allow you to record straight into your computer or through a mixer or audio interface. Using the USB output engages the built-in Revolution preamp circuitry for tons of gain without distracting noise. Furthermore, the APHEX DSP helps you deliver a polished, broadcast-quality sound. There’s also a zero-latency headphone output with a level control for monitoring your voice at the source. The RODE PodMic USB dynamic broadcast microphone is compatible with Mac, PC, iOS, and Android.

Connect your way

New recording artists and veteran podcasters will appreciate the PodMic USB’s flexible connectivity options. Firstly, an analog XLR connector runs your sound through a mixer or audio interface — just like a standard dynamic mic. However, the digital USB-C output allows you to plug right into your computer or smart device to record. Regardless of the output you use, the PodMic USB’s dual output connectors fit into any studio setup.

Onboard DSP and Revolution preamp

By using the PodMic USB’s digital USB-C output gives you access to onboard DSP (digital signal processing) and RODE’s fan-favorite Revolution microphone preamp. The built-in Revolution preamp amplifies your vocal signal without injecting any distracting noise or annoying buzz. Meanwhile, the onboard APHEX DSP gently polishes the USB-C’s signal to a radio-ready sheen. You no longer have to be a recording virtuoso to get great vocals for a podcast. Grab a RODE PodMic USB and let your microphone do all the work for you.

RODE PodMic Features:

  • Dynamic microphone capsule offers a warm and robust sound fit for podcasts
  • Built-in pop filter prevents plosives from disrupting your productions
  • Analog XLR output for connecting to an audio interface, external preamp, or mixer
  • Digital USB-C output connects straight to a computer or a compatible smart device
  • Revolution preamp and APHEX DSP polish your sound to perfection (USB-C only)
  • Zero-latency headphone output lets you monitor the signal at the source
  • Built-in swing mount enables flexible positioning
  • Fully compatible with RODE software (RODE Connect, RODE Central, RODE Capture, and Unify)
  • Works with Mac, PC, iOS, and Android devices

Reviews

Sounds great!
We set this mic up in a pastors office to be used to record podcasts and also professional zoom calls and meetings. The sound quality from plug and play is absolutely amazing. Immediately the pastor started getting comments on how great he sounded over the calls. In fact, one well know pastor stated he now had mic envy... LOL. Great product and we will be picking up a few more in the future.
Plug and play. Super simple with a mac.
I can't speak to PC users, but I took this out of the box, plugged it into my wife's M1 Macbook air, and it worked with no additional configuration. great little mic.
Fantastic Mic For the Pricepoint. Great for Traveling Podcast Guest Kit
We have a podcast that has guest from around the U.S. and world. We love the built in DSP aspects of the PodMic USB. You can save the settings or the guest we send our podcast kit to can download the RODE software to make adjustments as well. It is a rugged mic as well and has survived being shipped around the world. We love how easy the mic is to use and the plug and play nature of it. The quality is amazing! Can't recommend this mic enough.
Music background: Amateur Musician and Producer
Great for flexibility, not so great handling noise
While I love my PodMic USB for its versatility and ability to travel without the need for an interface I find myself wishing Rode developed a better shock mount for what would be my favorite mic. The mic sounds great as long as you don't bump it, the PSA1+ boom arm its mounted on or your desk. With all that being said it is still a great mic for folks needing something with some flexibility or aren't sure if they want to invest in an audio interface.
Spend the extra money on a Shure
Purchased this and have had nothing but trouble with it. Notoriously low levels and did not improve when connecting via XLR. Ended up Googling this after purchasing and have found out this is a common problem with this model that has no solution. Eventually plugged in my Shure SM7B and had no issues at all. No reason for this product to be so terrible. Spend the extra money and buy a Shure.
