I am trying to insert a half note in a staff in the score to sustain under several shorter notes. No matter how long a duration I give it, it never displays any longer than the shorter note that occurs on the same beat. How can I get the score to display a long note on a stave with shorter notes displayed simultaneously on the same stave?

Is it possible to alter the display of tied notes? I want to tie a dotted 8th note to a half note but Logic first writes the half, then the 8th note
