I’d like to add reverb to five audio tracks. When I insert five reverb plug-ins on these tracks, adjusting the dry/effect ratio with the Mix parameter, an error message shows up as soon as I press play saying, “Disk or too slow.” Is my computer really to slow for this job?

If you insert five effect Plug-Ins, the computer has to indeed calculate five individual reverb effects, each of which is very demanding in terms of the processing power needed. You can use your system’s resources more efficiently by using a single reverb plug-in, together with Logic’s busses (“Sends”) as effect sends, just as you would with a conventional analog mixing desk. In the track object you want to add reverb to, touch one of the audio object’s send-fields and assign, say, bus 1 to the send. A send knob will appear – turn it up. Insert only one reverb plug-in into the “Bus 1” audio object. Leave the reverb’s Mix parameter at 100%. Adjust the overall reverb level with the fader of bus 1, which serves as the “Effect Return”. For your Autoload Song, is advisable to give the bus a name like “Reverb” in the audio configuration window. Logic Audio Platinum delivers up to 16 busses (depending on the processing power of the computer).

Hint: the SilverVerb and Averb algorithms need less processing power than GoldVerb or PlatinumVerb. They have less parameters, but also deliver excellent sound quality.
