Tips for installing RAM : SIMM and DIMM Chips

Many people like to install their own RAM into computers, samplers, printers, etc. Often times this voids the manufacturer’s warranty. Check your products warranty policy before proceeding with your own installations.
Here is a list of tips for avoiding chip damaging static electricity:
– Before installing, be sure that you are grounded with a ground strap attached to your wrist.
– Avoid movement (i.e. rubbing your feet on the carpet) that may generate static.
– Keep SIMMs and DIMMs in their protective packaging until they are installed. Don’t handle them unnecessarily.
– Avoid touching SIMM and DIMM connectors; handle them by the edges only.
