Sibelius seems sluggish on Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
UPDATE 2/27/2014: Apple released Mac OSX 10.9.2 which allows Sibelius to run normally. After updating your OS, you should no longer have this issue.

On some computers, Sibelius 7 and Sibelius 7 First can feel sluggish to use on Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks. We’re working actively with Apple for a fix to this issue for the near future.
In the meantime, you can use this simple workaround:
Note: These steps are only necessary when you first open Sibelius; you do not need to send your computer to sleep each time you open a score.
- Start Sibelius
- Click Apple > Sleep
- Wake your Mac
You can now continue using Sibelius running at full speed.
