When recording onto ADAT from Pro Tools, ADAT fails to engage record, but instead plays past starting time. Signal is present on ADAT’s input meters.

Check preroll in the ADAT window and confirm that it is not set to 00:00:000. After record-enabling your ADAT tracks, make sure Transport=ADAT is selected, and press both Record and then Play in Pro Tools’Transport window. Pressing “Play ” in the same window you record-enable the ADAT properly completes the record command. If you press Record in Pro Tools’Transport window, and then “”Play ” on the ADAT, the ADAT will go into Record Safety Mode. It will allow you to monitor the input of the ADAT’s record-enabled tracks and the output of other tracks, so you can practice your record take, but the ADAT will not record the take.
