Line 6 Helix Stadium Proxy Cloning Engine Guide

On March 24, 2026, Line 6 released Firmware 1.3 which adds the first version of the Proxy Cloning Engine to the Helix Stadium and Stadium XL. With this update you can make captures of your own amp, cab and distortion pedals for use in Stadium presets. Let’s get started.

What Can I Do with Stadium Proxy?

Proxy is the name of the Line 6 technology that lets you connect your gear to your Stadium and create an impulse response (IR) which is processed into a “clone,” an amp block or effect block that you can use in your Stadium presets.

You can make a Proxy clone of the following:

  • Amplifier
  • Preamplifier
  • Amplifier with a speaker cabinet (with a microphone)
  • Distortion, drive, boost, or fuzz effects pedals

You create the “clone” by connecting your gear to the Stadium unit and setting levels.

If you are cloning an amplifier by itself, then you’ll need to connect a load box (not included) with the correct impedance and wattage to work with your amp.

If you are cloning an amp and speaker with a microphone, then the Stadium warns you that loud audio test signals will be output from your speaker.

When you start the cloning process, the Stadium sends test signals through the gear. The “DNA” that’s collected is then uploaded from the Stadium over your Wi-Fi connection and sent to Line 6 cloud servers for processing. When the processing is complete, Line 6 downloads the result back to your Stadium.

Next, while your gear is still connected to your Stadium, you can do a side-by-side comparison. You can compare the sound of playing your guitar through the gear to the sound of playing your guitar through the Proxy clone just created. The Stadium makes this easy with on-screen buttons labeled “Original” and “Clone.”

If the clone is to your liking, then you can save it. If not, you can discard it and exit the cloning process or start over and create a new clone with different settings on your gear.

Saved clones are stored on your Stadium and sorted into subcategories labeled “Clone” under the lists of Amp, Preamp, and Distortion blocks. Select them and add them to a signal chain in your preset as if they were IR blocks. Each clone block has level and EQ settings.

When you use a block with an Amp clone (made from an amp with a load box and no speaker and microphone), you’ll need to manually add a Cab block to go after it.

You can use the Librarian view in the Helix Stadium app on your Mac or Windows PC to manage, export, and import your clones on your computer’s hard drive.

Check for the Firmware Update

First, make sure the Proxy Cloning Engine feature is present on your Stadium.

From any screen, tap the upper-left corner of the display to open the Main Menu.

If you don’t see the red sheep’s head icon labeled “New Clone,” then you need to update your Stadium’s firmware to the newest version.

Connect Your Gear

The gear you need to connect will depend on the type of device you are cloning. Line 6 provides tips for monitoring with headphones, checking to make sure your connections are noise-free, setting up phantom power for a condenser microphone, and more.

Proxy cloning can’t handle time-based effects such as reverb, delay, and modulation, so avoid having any effects in the signal path and turn off an amp’s built-in effects.

Connect to Wi-Fi & Sign In

Your Stadium must be connected to the internet, and you must be logged into your Line 6 account on the unit in order for cloning to work.

Follow the Menus on Screen

  1. Tap the Stadium’s Main Menu button and tap the New Clone button.
  2. Select from these choices: Amp + Cab, Amp, Preamp, Drive Pedal.
  3. You’ll be taking a capture of a specific set of knob positions on your gear, so dial in your sound. If you are using a speaker cabinet and microphone, then your choice of microphone and its exact position relative to the speaker will have an impact on the sound you’re capturing, so listen carefully with your headphones.
  4. Depending on the type of device you choose, the screen will give you instructions with a diagram of your signal chain, including which ports on the Stadium to use for send and return.
  5. Follow the prompt to the next screen to set input levels.
  6. Enter a descriptive name for your clone. There are three metadata text panels, Brand, Product, and Notes, where you can write descriptions of what you are capturing.
  7. Tap “Clone!” to begin the process. If you’re working with an amp and cab, then things will get very loud. Hearing protection is recommended.
  8. Wait for the process to complete.

The Stadium will show a series of screens indicating that the “device DNA” is being uploaded, processed, and downloaded. The amount of time needed for this may vary substantially.

Compare & Save

With all your gear still cabled up and connected to the Stadium, use the on-screen buttons Original and Clone to play your guitar and compare the live sound of the real gear to the sound of the clone. You can adjust Pre Gain, EQ, and Post Gain for the clone while you audition.

Tap Save or tap Discard to delete the file and exit the process.

The estimated required monthly payment shown which excludes taxes and delivery equals the amount financed divided by the number of months in the promo period, rounded up to the next cent. During the last month(s) of the promo period the required monthly payment may be reduced due to this rounding. These payments apply only with the financing offer shown. If you make these payments by the due date each month, you should pay off this amount financed within the promo period, if it is the only balance you are paying off.
