How to Perform a Factory Reset on an Arturia Microfreak

In this guide, we will show you how to back up user-created presets and perform a factory reset on an Arturia MicroFreak. A factory reset will restore the MicroFreak to the original out-of-the-box defaults.

Back up user presets

Performing a factory reset will erase all user presets on the Microfreak. To back up your sounds, you will need to connect the synth to your computer and use the Arturia MIDI Control Center to back up your presets. Follow these steps to transfer your presets to the computer.

1. Connect the MicroFreak to your computer, and turn it on.
2. Launch the MIDI Control Center app, and click the Selection tab.
3. Select the Project where you want to send the user presets, select the user presets to send, and then click Recall to computer.

Perform a factory reset

You can perform two resets: a factory reset or erase user presets. Erasing user presets will only erase the presets, but keep any system settings you may have changed within Utility mode. A factory reset will erase everything, including global settings. To perform either reset, you will need to do so from the Misc menu while in Utility mode.

1. Press the Utility button, rotate the Preset knob to Misc, and then press it.
2. Rotate the Preset knob and select one of the following options and press it:
   • Reset Settings to perform a factory reset
   • User preset erase to erase all user presets.  
3. Rotate the Preset knob to select Yes, and press it to complete the reset.
   • Re-import user presets or projects by going to MIDI Control Center, selecting the user presets or projects you want to send, and then click Send to MicroFreak.
