How to Update the Firmware on an Arturia MicroFreak

In this guide, we will show you how to update the firmware on the Arturia MicroFreak. These updates are released periodically and will often add new features and optimizations to the device’s internal software. Follow both sections below to get started.
Check the firmware version
Before downloading and installing the firmware on the MicroFreak, you should first check which version it’s currently running and compare it to the latest version available on Arturia’s MicroFreak product page.
- Power on the device. The firmware version will be listed on the Loading screen.
- You can also view the firmware version by connecting the MicroFreak to your computer and launching the MIDI Control Center app.
- Go to the MicroFreak resource page and locate the latest released firmware.
Download and install the MicroFreak firmware
If your device needs to be updated, the next step is to download & install the MicroFreak firmware. This is done through the MIDI Control Center app. Do not use a USB hub when performing a firmware update, as this will result in the update to fail. Follow the steps below to complete the firmware update.
- Connect your device to the computer and power it on.
- Launch the MIDI Control Center app, and select the MicroFreak in the device drop-down list.
- Click Download Latest, and follow the on-screen prompts. The process takes approximately 3 minutes.
- The device will automatically restart once the firmware update is complete.
Are you receiving firmware update errors?
