Windows Users: Download & Install the ASIO Audio Driver
An audio driver is custom software that you install on your computer to connect it with your audio interface. If you are using your DICE with a Windows PC, either with an Intel or AMD processor, or Windows on Arm, you must install the Behringer DICE USB Audio Driver first.
If you are using your DICE on a Mac, iPhone, iPad or an Android device, then your unit is “class compliant” and there is no audio driver to install. You can skip this section.
- On your Windows PC, go to the Products page on the Behringer website.
- Search for the DICE audio interface.
- On the product page for your model, click “Downloads.”
- Under “Drivers,” download the newest version of the DICE USB Audio Driver (Windows).
- Find the installer in your Downloads file and unzip it. Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
Online Owner’s Manuals
Behringer makes the DICE owner’s manual available as a webpage.
- On the Behringer website, go to the Products page.
- Open the page for your model of DICE.
- On the product’s page, click “Downloads.” Under “Manuals,” click “User Guide.” This will open the webpage with Behringer’s online manual.
Set the DICE as Your Computer’s Recording & Playback Device
With your DICE connected directly to your computer with a USB-C data cable, here’s how to configure your computer to use the DICE as the main audio device.
Windows PC
- Right-click the Speaker icon on your Windows taskbar, click “Sound Settings,” and choose “More Sound Settings.”
- Select “Playback” and right click on the name of the DICE unit. Choose “Set as Default Device” and “Set as Default Communications Device.”
- Select “Properties,” go to the Advanced tab, and uncheck the boxes under “Exclusive Mode.”
- Click the Recording tab and configure the same settings as above.
Mac
- Click the Apple icon in the Menu Bar and select System Settings.
- In the pane on the left, select “Sound.” Under “Output & Input,” click on each tab and select the DICE.
You can adjust the sample rate and bit depth for the DICE using the Audio Devices pane in the Audio MIDI Setup app.
Setting Up Your DICE with Your DAW
When using the DICE with your DAW (digital audio workstation software) you need to configure the DAW to use the DICE as the main source for input and output. Consult your DAW owner’s manual for instructions on selecting the audio interface and configuring it.

Power

The two USB-C ports serve different functions.
You can power your DICE from your computer over the same USB-C connection used for the audio data. On your DICE, connect a USB-C data cable to the primary USB-C port on the right. Plug the data cable directly into a port on your Mac or Windows PC. Don’t connect this to a USB hub or dock.
If you’re using the DICE with a device such as a phone or tablet, then you can power the DICE through the secondary USB-C port on the left using a 5-volt USB power supply, while also connecting to your host with a USB-C data cable using the primary port. This way, you won’t drain the power on your device while using the audio interface.
You can also power the DICE with a 5-volt USB power supply if you’re using it only as an analog microphone preamp and not as an audio interface.
Inputs, Outputs & Controls

Front panel controls on the Behringer DICE 1U2 and 2U2
Turn all knobs all the way down before you connect or disconnect any cables.
While each model of DICE has a different number and configuration of inputs and outputs, and different controls available, the basic connections are the same. Here are the connections and controls for the 1U2 and 2U2 models.
Combo Jack Preamp Inputs
Combo jacks can accept either a balanced 3-pin XLR cable connection, a balanced TRS 1/4-inch cable, or an unbalanced TS 1/4-inch instrument cable. You can then adjust the Input knob for that channel to account for the signal level coming from your instrument or microphone.
Line Input
The 1U2 has a dedicated TS 1/4-inch high-impedance input for plugging in your guitar.
Headphone Output
Connect headphones with a TRS 1/4-inch connection.
Main Outputs
On the back panel, connect powered speakers to the Left and Right outputs using balanced TRS cables for stereo. Make sure the power to the speakers is turned off when you connect the cables.
Input Gain Knobs
Use this to adjust the input level for the channel. The halo around the knob lights up to indicate that signal is being received.
Main Knob
Adjusts the output level of the Main speaker outputs on the rear panel.
48V Button
Engage this to provide 48-volt power to condenser microphones. The halo lights red to indicate that the power is engaged.
INST/LINE Switch
Set this switch to adjust the input for either an instrument connected with an unbalanced TS cable or a line level source connected with a balanced TRS cable.
Shine Switch
The 2U2 has a switch for each channel to engage a high shelf filter to enhance the top end.
Mono/Stereo Switch
Use this to select what you hear in direct monitoring of the inputs. When the switch is set to Mono, inputs are heard in mono. When the switch is set to Stereo, one input is panned left and the other is panned right.
