Waves just dropped off their two latest plug-ins bundles for both TDM and Native-based systems. Waves has long been the professional standard for quality plug-ins, and these bundles are their most impressive yet. The Mastering Bundle is the definitive suite of plug-ins for mastering, and includes Liner Phase EQ, a Linear Multi-band, and L2. The Platinum Bundle is probably the most comprehensive bundle of processing tools they’ve ever released. It contains everything from the award-winning Gold Bundle, plus Renaissance Collection 2 and the Master Bundle. The TDM versions of the Master Bundle and the Platinum Bundle are fully compliant with Digidesign’s new Pro Tools|HD.

To help answer your general OSX questions, Apple has posted some very helpful information on their website. The links below should help you get familiar with OSX.
