Taylor Guitars use a numbering system to identify almost all of their models. Knowing this “code” can help you instantly discover a guitar’s tonewood, body shape, and more! The first digit of the model number indicates the series and the woods used to create the guitar. This system ranges from the 100 series up to the 900 series. The second digit tells you whether it is a 6-string (denoted by a 1) or 12-string (denoted by a 5) guitar. And the third digit of the model number identifies the guitar’s body shape. Letters which following the number will indicate additional traits. For example, e=electronics, c=cutaway, etc.

Most Taylor models are available with or without a cutaway. Having one gives you easier access to the upper frets.
