Q: I’m trying to use the UAD-2 Ampex ATR-102 and Precision Multiband plug-ins with my Universal Audio Apollo Quad audio interface, but I keep getting a message that there isn’t enough delay compensation even though I have the delay compensation set to the highest setting. Is there something wrong with my Apollo?
A: No, there’s nothing wrong with your Apollo. We would bet that you are trying to use these two plug-ins in the Apollo console software during tracking. To create their amazingly accurate effects, the ATR-102 and Precision Multiband plug-ins are quite processor intensive. Because of this, they cannot be used during tracking with an Apollo.
Try instantiating them within your DAW during mixdown or mastering. In this case, delay compensation is not an issue, and the plug-ins should operate perfectly. If you need real-time tape emulation during tracking with your Apollo, we suggest trying the UAD-2 Studer A800 plug-in.
