MOTU has released two new “hybrid” audio interfaces for Mac, Windows, and iOS: the 624 and 8A. Each of these compact, mobile interfaces supports Thunderbolt and USB3 connectivity as well as AVB/TSN audio networking features. The 624 offers 32 channels of audio I/O, while the 8A provides 34 channels. Each interface supports up to 128 channels of audio to the computer and 128 playback channels back from the computer using new, optimized MOTU drivers, with round-trip latency as low as 1.6ms at 96kHz via Thunderbolt and 1.9ms via USB.
Both interfaces are equipped with renowned ESS Sabre32 DAC technology, which delivers 123dB dynamic range on their balanced, DC-coupled analog outputs.
Powerful built-in DSP delivers large-console-style mixing with 48 channels, 12 stereo buses, and 32-bit floating-point effects processing, including modeled analog EQ, vintage compression, and classic reverb. The 624 and 8A can be used as stand-alone mixers with wireless control from a tablet, smartphone, and laptop — even multiple smart devices simultaneously — over shared Wi-Fi.
The 8A and 624 can be expanded by connecting another MOTU AVB interface for more I/O, or can be connected to an expanded AVB/TSN network with multiple interfaces and computers.
