A tremolo bar or vibrato bar technique made popular by electric guitarists playing “shred,” or very fast hard rock music. The technique is also called “tremolo bar flutter” or simply “gargle.” This technique is generally best done with a floating tremolo and a guitar tone using high gain/overdrive/distortion. Start by rotating the bar away from the neck of the guitar. Play any note, then, beginning at the base of the bar, apply pressure and slide your finger toward the end, and “flick” your finger off the end. The bar should pop up, causing a gargle sound as it vibrates and eventually stabilizes.
