Loop Switcher

A typically footswitchable device that contains one or more I/O loops, which may be switched in and out of the signal path. Typically used by guitar players, loop switchers allow a noisy stompbox to be completely removed from the signal path or a series of two or more pedals to be switched on and off simultaneously.

A loop switcher may range in complexity from a single loop that can be turned on and off, to a number of loops that may be turned on and off individually or in combination, to a high-tech device that can memorize combinations of loops so that different pedals may be combined in various ways and instantly recalled. Some loop switchers offer more advanced capabilities such as MIDI control, amp channel switching, built-in buffers and/or impedance matching, built-in preamps, built-in level or EQ boost, and more.
