“Footswitch” refers to any device that sits on the floor and allows you to change a sound, select a channel, or turn on and off specific effects (such as reverb or tremolo) with your foot. Also, just about all floor pedal effects (i.e., a distortion pedal) will have some type of footswitch that allows you to switch the effect in or out.
