The product behind the teaser videos that Roland posted a while ago has finally been unveiled, at the annual Musikmesse Tradeshow held in Frankfurt, Germany. The big news? The Jupiter-80! Designed to carry on the heritage of the powerhouse Jupiter synths of the vintage era, the Jupiter-80 is aimed at live performance as well as studio use.
The 76-note semi-weighted synth-action keyboard has SuperNATURAL synthesis onboard, the Jupiter 8’s Unison mode, vintage analog sounds, Tone Blender technology, and 350 PCM waveforms from the best digital synths, for creating complex sonic movement in real time. From legendary vintage synth tones to realistic acoustic tones, to never-before-heard textures, the Jupiter-80 covers whatever you need.
Extensive real-time control allows you to shape your performance, plus behavior modeling means that achieving a realistic acoustic performance is an easy matter. Plus, MIDI, USB, and audio interface features mean you can connect the Jupiter-80 to any live or studio rig and get right to work, and a USB-memory Song Player/Recorder allows for backing tracks of quick “notepad” capture of ideas.
There’s so much more to the Jupiter-80 — we think this one is going to be huge.
