Roland PSA-120S 9V 500mA Power Supply Reviews

I recently ordered BOSS Tuner and Chorus pedals. Both units run off either a 9V battery, or a 9V AC power supply (they do not come with the power supply). I also have MXR and Behringer pedals that also all run off 9V battery or AC power supply. I purchased the Roland PSA-120S 9V Power Supply, and it works great to power all of my pedals. I have had no issues with this power supply. I have read some reviews of claims of feedback from the power supply, but I have never had any feedback from mine.

I also ordered and an optional BOSS PCS-20A Parallel DC Daisy-Chain Cable to fix my power supply issues. I power my BOSS TU-3 Tuner with the Roland AC power supply, then power the rest of my pedals using the BOSS Daisy-Chain off the power out slot on the tuner. The daisy-chain makes it possible to power all my pedals with the one AC power supply.

As with any Boss or Roland products I have purchased or used, I have never had any issues with their design, easy of use, quality and performance.

I really like the redesigned transformer...it fits receptacles better and allows for 2 of us to use the same outlet. The increased length of the cord means no more extension cords, and thereby eliminating another potential source of 60 Hz interference.

My current pedal power supply was not sending enough power for my new Boss WL-50 to charge the transmitter. I bought this and now the WL50 is working as expected. Solid unit.

We love the looper and the ac adapter makes it so much easier to use . We don't have to worry about batteries running out.

This is a must have too charge the WL transmitter in the receiver, you can not charge the transmitter in the receiver without it, should come with the system.

Not really much to say. It's a power supply cord. I bought it to go with my Boss RC-5. This is my first pedal, so I thought I would play it safe by getting the officially sanctioned power supply from Roland. It does what it is supposed to do. I will say, unpleasantly pleased with the length; it's long enough to give you all the freedom you need.

I bought this recommended fit for my Roland TM 1 drum brain mod. Serves purpose well, no longer running through 9 volt batteries which was getting kinda expensive.

Tried several "compatible" power supply cords from other vendors. Big mistake! One call to Sweetwater (thanks Mike!), two days and my DR-550 MK II was back in business without spending a bunch of money on AA batteries.
Don't waste your time by trying generic power supplies for your Roland/Boss product, call Sweetwater and get what you need…fast.

This power supply seems to be a quality product, very well built. I have tried other brands in the past and they felt cheaply made and hollow. I have no problem recommending to anyone.

I have an original Roland SH-101 synthesizer from the 80's. Loaned it to a friend years ago and finally got it back. ;). The batteries were left inside the unit and the acid leaked inside and the original power adapter was long gone. Be careful loaning instruments out... just saying.
Like most musicians, I have a bag full of old wall worst and power adapters, none of them would power my SH-101.
I researched the SH-101 and saw this power adapter mentioned. I ordered it from Sweetwater and just got it today. Plugged it into my SH-101 and it came right on! I'm thrilled!
This little adapter does just what it's supposed to do, nothing fancy just good clean power.

Decently priced, always reliable and well built. Especially the more recent versions. Roland has taken the time to improve on this product over the years with excellent results unlike other brands that simply replace their products with something else. What I like most is that it works great with other units not made by Roland. I'm very pleased with this product and I highly recommend it to anyone.

I use this adapter for the BOSS DB90 Dr. Beat metronome. Obviously it is compatible for many BOSS items. Added plus, it helps me from constantly buying 9V batteries.

Ive been fighting a hum from this single coil strat for ages. This really killed the noise from the pedal chain, highly recommended. It would be great if it could support unlimited devices.

Got this for a Boss effects pedal. It was recommended by Sweetwater below the pedal I acquired. Works like a charm. I recommend for any Boss pedal it's compatible with. Saves batteries & looks cool

I would suggest that people should stay away from those cheap adaptors that are on sale claiming that they power up your pedals.
I made that mistake, i purchased the Boss Me-80 guitar effect processor. and it doesn't come with a power supply. i ended up buying in certain "Well known" Website. claiming that the power supply adapter was compatible with my Boss Me 80.
Good enough, it powered my unit, but with time i noticed i had hum coming from my amp . that annoying hum through my amps..
I checked for possibly causes for the humming issues. and yes! i found that it could have been a "cheap power strip " and probably my Wannabe Boss Me 80 power supply.
I purchased a very decent power strip (Furman) for sale on sweetwater. and my humming was gone if i played directly through my amp. and not through my boss Me 80.
But once i purchased this (PSA -120s) i hooked everything together. and no more hum.

The price for this power supply is really not that high and you get good quality. Specially if you have expensive gear. Hell yes!!It works, and it will protect your gear. don't take any chances in frying your gear because of going for the cheap stuff.

Well built, seems like it will last. Wish it had come with the ME-80. Seems a little crappy that I had to buy it separately. It works and seems like a good power cable.

I power my entire pedal board with this one supply. With 500 mA I can power 7-8 pedals in a daisy chain with no problem. Very good quality and works perfect with no noise. I have own this power supply for over two years with no problems whatsoever. This one is a winner and you cannot beat the price.

Just got this so my pedal could have power. i like it.

Got this to power my DD-20 delay because it burned through batteries like nobody's business, I've been using it with a TU-3+parallel cord so it powers both pedals. It has a really long cord, so even if the outlet isn't close you have a good chance of reaching it. Overall, another good Roland product.

I bought this adapter just to avoid wasting my money buying batteries everytime I'm going to the stage. This adapter really does its work, so I don't have to worry about such things as purchasing batteries before my performance.

Hey, I've used substitutes (universals or just trying to find one that matches) before and have decided having the correct power supply is worth spending a few more bucks.

If you're looking to buy the Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor, this is a "must have"! I didn't order it when I bought the NS-2 because I have an AC adapter at home and thought it would work...but no. The adapter I had made a terrible noise when I tried to use it! Save yourself some heartache and order this at the same time! Money well spent, you won't regret it...believe me! Now I can play noise free!!

I bought this in Spring 2020 to power a Joyo JF-14 American Sound pedal. The connection from the cord to the wall plug isn't the greatest, but overall it works really well and I don't have any other complaints.

Bought one of these for my Boss ME-50B which was given to me a few years ago as a gift. Boss pedals do not come with a power supply. I'm playing bass guitar in a pit band at local civic theatre which has terrible interference from all the lighting gear and maybe not so good house wiring. My old, off brand power supply had my bass putting out terrible noise into the sound system. I looked up what Boss had to offer and saw the copy and reviews on this unit and thought it might be worth a try.
I plugged it in and all that crazy hum and rattle and pop disappeared! I think it's more quiet than with batteries.
Since I've had the unit less than 24 hours I can't comment on longevity but the thing flat works and works well. It's nice to not sweat through a long rehearsal or performance worrying about whether the batteries will make it through. The multi-pedals like the ME-50B chew batteries up fast.

Works Great, no problems at all. The Power Supply is being used on a small Pedalboard for a Bass player in a national touring band, and is used mostly for flyout dates and he has had no problems. I would recommend this product

If you buy a Boss ME-80 buy this with it. The ME-80 does not come with it. In my opinion it should of.

Exactly what was needed.

This power supply works for many, many effects pedals that accept a 9 vdc battery eliminator.

Its a good, solid power supply. Works like it should. Not much else to say about something simple like this.

these cords save me money. no more having to buy batteries.

The cord they use is cheap and kinks like crazy. I'd gladly pay more for a quality cable. Other than that it works well and is quiet.

It works, but I had to buy another after just a few months. The wiring came separated and it stopped working. Had to buy another one. It's just a little flimsy.

The minute i saw this i knew it would last only a few months,..and i was correct.Why doesn't roland make a proper power adaptor any longer? The problem is the wire they use is super thin and rigid,..so when you try to wind it up each night at the end of the gig,...it fights you, and is only a matter of time before it will split.

I had to replace it after limited use. It didn't last for two years. Unfortunately, I didn't purchase it from Sweetwater. It would have been covered by Sweetwater 2-year warranty....Oh well...live and learn.
