If you play a Les Paul or other guitar that doesn’t come equipped with a vibrato tailpiece, but want the ability to bend notes (or whole chords) up or down, but without worrying about strings going out-of-tune or more importantly, without modifying your favorite axe, Native Instruments created Pitch Pedal, the world’s first pedal-controlled vibrato tailpiece. This is a module that works within NI’s Guitar Rig 3. Naturally, to use this feature properly, you really need the Rig Kontrol pedal. This feature (pitch shift) is called “Drag” in Guitar Rig and the Rig Kontrol pedal allows for hands-free control over pitch changes. You’ll need to learn how to access the Expert Mode parameters, as these are crucial in creating your own customized bends. However, there are a number of factory presets for common string-bending effects, so you might give those a try first. Please note that the pitch shifting works polyphonically, which means that if you set the Pitch Pedal module to small shift amounts, you can also dial in some superb chorusing or even thicker ensemble effects!
